    Default Moving up help

Thanks to a £100 (yes pounds) bonus I'll shortly be receiving PLUS me crushing the site's rly bad players, I'll be min-rolled for 10nl (according to the x by 100 by 20 BRM rule).

Rather than me depositing again on Stars, for the last month, I've been playing exclusively on this euro site in order to build up a better roll. Since this is now achieved, I want to move up...but part of me wants to make sure I'm beating Stars 2nl for at least 10000 hands before I do this. I suspect (or am pretty certain) that the 2nl level on Stars is better than the 4nl on this Euro site.

    My options are therefore:

    1) move up to £8nl or £10nl on the euro site

    2) move up to $5nl or $10nl on Stars

    3) move money to a new site and do another month or so of bonus whoring

    4) split the money between both sites so I'm rolled for 8nl on euro site and a min buy in for 2nl on Stars, and proceed to beat Stars 2nl for the next month or two.

EDIT: Come to think of it, my roll in USD$ will be much higher since I'm currently playing in GBP.

You cannot be properly bankrolled for a game you don't have a positive edge in.

soaking up ethanol, moving on up
my advice - partly combine your roll and play 5nl on stars. Keep playing 4euro games and move up when rolled for it on that site. Move up across sites/stakes when you've beaten it into submission (say 15buyins or something) then beat the next level. See Jason's blog for levelling up advice. Then bonus whore

other advice will likely fall into one of two camps:

stay at same stakes until you've beaten them for another 10buyins (shouldn't take long if you truly beat these stakes), then move up.
Relying on bonuses to move up from stakes where you aren't a proven winner is not really advisable

    or....

shit, it's peanuts. Just move up where the $$ feel real

    Jason's blog?

See the EDIT in the OP btw.

My USD roll = higher by approx 100$ since I'm playing in GBP at present.

What I'm suggesting is that you don't move up until you're beating the level you're already at. My comment was based on the fact that your risk of ruin is always too high if you don't have a positive win-rate for any bankroll management strategy to work.

    This is the funny thing.

Obviously Stars doesn't have rakeback, but the Euro site I play on has a cash for points scheme which looks nice for those playing 100nl and above, ergo, if you collect 40000 points per month you get a £2000 bonus. Here is how it's done:

Can someone tell me if this *appears* better than FT's rakeback. Bear in mind that the absolute highest I wish to play right now is 10nl.

most important thing is to not have money on a site that's small enough or doesn't have enough financial backing for it to be at any risk whatsoever of going bankrupt. far too frequently, small euro sites go bankrupt and your BR disappears over night.

other than that, i don't see why you would ever play at a site that doesn't have good rakeback for micro players and where 2nl is tougher than 4nl at your current site. any defense of it would seem to have to include the statement "i don't like money"

In the long run, I feel Pokerstars a) will help me to become a better player and b) get me more benefits via the FPP system.

Not to mention the browser based poor software on this Euro site means I can only do 5 tables max.

Rake at micros is significantly lower on stars compared to other sites, which more than makes up for lack of rakeback

The rake at Full Tilt Poker (with rakeback) is higher at 2nl and 5nl and 10nl than PokerStars with BronzeStar. At 25nl it's close if you're a GoldStar. It would be useful for you to post your stats and winrate for 2nl over however long you've played it. I suggest you play 2nl on PokerStars.

Play at Stars at the proper Limit according to your bankroll.
If you are beating the 2NL then continue playing 2NL until your bankroll lets you move up to $5 NL.

    I suggest:
    PokerStars and don't look back.
