He bet the pot so I'd respond in kind.

Just to straighten out some terminology. A c-bet is a continuation bet, we use the term for when the preflop raiser bets the flop or when the flop raiser bets the turn, etc.

This is a donk bet, when a player leads into the preflop raiser rather than checking and letting them bet. In this case it looks like a decent ace. If the stacks were smaller (and given the dry board) I'd even considering calling 2 streets and then raising the river, but with both of you over 100bbs to start the hand, i think a raise is definitely in order.

After his .17 and our .17 the pot is around .50 and we have 2.35 behind. If we bet another .30ish on top then we'll have a 1.10 pot after a call and 2.05 behind. It shouldn't be hard to get the rest in with a single bet on the turn and one on the river.

Keep in mind, if you raised and he folded here, he probably didn't even have an ace. It looks like a line someone would take with a med-strong hand, but it's not always that way.

I think i'd be hitting the pot button and then deducting a few cents. In this case, pot is $0.68, so I might make it $0.60.

The definition of pot is: it leaves our opponent a bet which is half the pot, i.e. they're getting 2:1 on the pot.

In this spot, the board is dry, he's likely got a made hand (in which case few outs to improve e.g. AK has only 4 outs) and you don't mind giving him slightly better than 2:1. Betting $0.60 or slightly less sets up a 2/3 or 3/4 pot bet on the turn and you have no problem getting it all in on the river (I think more often than not I expect my opponent to call a flop raise and check/call 2 streets, so we have to be careful not to overbet any street).

I just wanted to say, for those of us who don't play at sites where there's a pot button:

P: pot before flop betting
H: opponent bet size
Y: what you have to raise to make it pot

2*(Y-H) = P + H + Y
Y = 3*H + P

To make it pot you have to raise 3 times the amount your opponent bets + the size of the pot

(Sugarnut at GS talks about this(I think), but I forgot what he said exactly so I recalculated it).
