I play NL10 and generate $.80/.90 per hour per table in cash games. With rakeback and 9-tabling, I generate about $10 / hour. I play 1 -2 hours most evenings, a bit more on weekends. So 50 hours per month is easily done. I typically log 40+ hours / month of grinding out bankroll.

One caution about moving up - it requires fewer tables and you will have a smaller win%. So, I can't expect to win $25 per hour at NL25, just because the stakes are 2.5 times higher. I'd be happy with $8 - $10 initially, giving me time to build my br slowly and adjust my game to the new level.

BTW, my goal for 2008 is to take $100 offline each month in profits plus build my bankroll by $100 - $150. I think folks like Miffed would suggest that learning enough to be profitable at NL100 along with building that roll quickly (i.e. not taking out profits right away) might earn you the most in the long run.

I'm interested in taking out profits "early" for two reasons. First, I have a family, and I want my poker hobby to not have cost my family a single cent. I'm a lifetime winning player, but I want all the money I've ever spent on poker (bankroll, software, books) to be paid for by poker winnings, not my family's checkbook. Once I'm playing entirely on a bankroll built from my winnings, then I want to start saving for an anniversary trip for my wife and I next Feb (10 years!). We're headed for Vegas (wifey likes black jack, so I need to build some roll for that plus me to play poke with).

Whatever your goals, the key is getting profitable at SOME GAME at SOME LEVEL and using solid br management to build up from there. You make enough money doing one profitable thing a LOT to finance your education at other things and higher levels.

Good luck at the tables.
