Default Loose/aggressive...then passive...need some style help

    Limit Ring games:
So, after 1470 hands in PokerTracker, the application autorates my play as LAP (loose aggressive preflop...passive post flop). I know the reason why is that I play low limit hold'em ring games where lots of flops are seen. I don't mind seeing lots of flops in those situations as long as I'm somewhat tighter than the rest of the field. And, aggression pre-flop helps get me good value for my big hands when they hit/hold up. The passivity that I experience post flop is due to the number of flops that don't fit my hand. Not much you can do in a low limit game to bluff your way out of those situations, as 6 to 8 people may be playing the flop. So, I'm either folding or calling with the right odds for my draws...both of which are interpreted as passive by Poker Tracker.

The gist is that Poker Tracker has this as a losing style long-term and I can attest to that. I'll have some decent wins, but the trend is definitely south.

How do you move to being aggressive after the flop in low limit games when the flop doesn't fit your hand??? A loose aggressive preflop and aggressive post flop style should do well, but I'm wholly card dependent in low limit "no fold'em hold'em" games. Altnernatively, if I tighten up too much, I become the rock that everyone avoids and make steady money per session but only in tiny little bits.

    Any advice?

When you play too many hands (loose), then the flop is more often than not, not going to fit your hand, and you will not feel comfortable betting it (passive). This leads to pissing money away. Playing tight is not being a rock, you WILL rake in money playing tight, nobody cares or will notice how many hands you're playing.

Although 1500 hands is hardly anything and could have a lot of variance in it, its safe to say you are playing way too loose. Here's an exercise, look in PT at all the hands you've played. See which ones are making money and which ones are losing money. By playing loose, i don't know exactly which hands you're playing, but tell me if for example that A4s you're limping in is + or - dollars.
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch

PT tells me that A4s is +$ limping in.
It also tells me that in loose games, I'm seeing tons of flops...lots of connectors, one-gappers, and suited Aces. However, despite that, my big loses appear to come from AQ and AQ s...basically overplaying them and losing to sets and two pair rather than being dominated by AK.
Lastly, it shows me calling with draws and folding just about everything else after the flop...which I guess accounts for the passive aspect here.
Seems like fishy play and I need to find ways to plug leaks.
    Thanks for your advice.

    Welcome!

1400 hands isn't really enough to determine whether a particular hand is profitable for you. Even 10k hands isn't a great sample size for limit. It does sound like you are playing a little loose passive. I'm not an expert on limit poker, but I hear "Small Stakes Holdem" is a great guide for beating these low limit games. Check out the book reviews in the main part of the site, and the Limit Holdem Forum.

In limit, I wouldn't worry so much about trying to bet and raise more to bring that post flop aggression factor up. I think the problem here is that you CALL too much. Calling lowers your aggression factor.

And yeah, you should stop playing so many hands especially when all the other players are so loose. Just stop calling so much. That's all you have to work on for now. You'll get tighter and your aggression factor will go up.
