a little lesson...

I was playing FR 100nl, and one guy was 8/2 over 50 hands. loosey limps, i picked up AK, and raised to $5, . One of the shorty blinds goes all in for $7 more. loosey raises $15 more, i fold. 8/2 guy pushes like $60 more. loosey calls.

the 8/2 guy had 89d.

I think the lesson learned here is that stats never tell the whole story at all. Someone with a PFR of 1% over 150 hands doesn't mean he ONLY reraises AA or KK. People aren't robots.

i wouldn't pay too much attention to hud stats til you've got like at least 1k hands, maybe more.

A limp-re-riase like that from a loose and short player is almost always GAMB00L! AK is way ahead of his range. I get it in every time.

Also, many of my favorite players go busto before I would get a simple nearly that big.

100 hands is easily enough to get a rough idea of loose/tight passive/aggressivness in my experience.
Even 50 starts to give you a picture.

Waiting for 1000 hands before you start to judge people is a little ridiculous. You probably wont ever play 1k hands against the vast majority of your opponents.

agreed, it think 100 hands is plenty to give you a good idea of their play

i can usually get a pretty good idea of how a player plays after 20 hands or so.

lol i guess that was excessive, but i still wouldn't be assigning really small ranges to ppl pre-flop based on a couple hundred hands. i know how my stats look after a hundred hands, and they can be waaay misleading a lot of times.

I think your giving too much credit to the other players, that they can change up because of table conditions, position and even the opponents positions. Your stats will not reflect your playing style over the short term but theirs will. Give them the credit they deserve. None. Unless the stats warrent it.

people can run red hot or extremely card dead over 100 hands.
