Default Limping in with Ax (low kicker mostly)

When limping in with Ax (this applies to mostly lower kickers) how do you handle a decent reraise on the flop? Say the flop comes A 5 9, rainbow, and I raise 1/2 the pot, should a solid reraise indicate two pair or a set? Even with a TPTK, does a reraise like that justify a fold from a TAG like player?

with low x just fold it. Im usually playing AXs for a flush and Axo not at all. TPTK is grand but if you shouldnt be playing TPTK for stacks then TP with 8th kicker is evil. just chuck it to any action.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

yea, it does indicate a better hand than top pair no kicker, so fold those flops

Problem is, if you call and you don't improve on the turn (quite likely) you face "problems". Unless you think he's trying to test your aggression by reraising a nothing hand, easy fold.

Don't limp with Axs unless late with many other limpers. Actually, if you are in LP with a bunch of limpers, raise it up! Clean up that Garbage cash by taking it down pre-turn. Otherwise, don't play A-trash.

If I play Axo I really don't want to see an Ace on the flop.

As others have said, whats the point? If you can’t bet out confidently on an A high flop, then why did you play the hand. Fold preflop.

I am the person holding AK, and I am the person reraising you on an A59 flop, and I am the person milking you A LOT over ther long run. If you have a rule where you fold Axo (where x is under 10) EVERY time you get it, you won't go far wrong.

you win for "Most problems with initial sentence of post".

IF you are in an unraised pot against a TAG player who was not in a blind, and he raises you on that board, he almost has to have a set. TAG players fold bad AX and raise good Ax, and don't play 59.

If you are not yet skilled at reading the board, folding to reraises from a TAG, and stealing pots when they are stronger but not strong enough, than don't play this hand. Those are the things you have to do to make Axs (under 10) pay off. Also, never play these hands OOP.

    Howdy,

Do these rules aply ( >10 ) to short handed games as well, say less than 6 ??

I always here that " any Ace is good short handed"

I tend to play them in position on short tables.

    folds to your button.

You have A9o. A couple tighties are to your left in the blinds.

    Your play?

I guess A9 on button is legit opening hand regardless of opponents in BB.

Against nits we can exploit their preflop tightness and steal with any 2 but A9 against random opps is just most marginal of marginal hands preflop on button and it's nothing wrong to give some heat with it.
