Leak?

Anyone who uses Poker Tracker knows that the blinds are bound to be losing positions. Considering this, it occurred to me that posting out of turn when entering a game must be -ev. Is this correct? In other words, should you always wait for the big blind before starting at a table?

In 6-max you should always wait for the BB. In full-ring, posting in the CO at a full 9-man table is only very slightly -EV. You're paying the same amount per hand (1BB for 6 hands when you post in the CO = 1.5BB for 9 hands when you post first in the BB) but you're missing the best position, the button. I'll post in the CO at a full, full-ring table, but otherwise I wait.

yes

lol, i never thought about the -ev associated with it. probably coz i always wait for bb. it also helps me get 5 or so hands on the foes before i play the first hand.

i make probably like 50 dollars a session from people posting oop.

The good players look for this and prey on it because it is a sign of donkishness. Good players in position will raise any two when they see someone do this. It's a pretty high % play as Renton demonstrated above.

They will also automatically label someone as a weak player if they buy-in for the minimum and post oop until the player proves otherwise.

I do this a lot, but be careful post-flop if you get called. A CO-poster/raiser doesn't get much respect from observant players. But if you're lucky enough to hit your hand, whoooeee, you're getting paid

I do it sometimes to insta-donkify my image. It's also surprising how often you take down the pot.

I've read that it can be +EV to post oop at a table of good players (they put you on instadonk) IF the game is NL.

At full-ring NL, single-tabling or two-tabling, I will post oop if the button is across from me or closer.

Should also be noted that at Limit games, this doesn't work. It's always -EV to post oop there.

i autoraise posters with atc, auto3bet them with atc, and auto3bet good players who are praying on posters, with atc.
