Obviously, I was worried about the Aces being cracked by the flush. On the other hand, I figured I had a ~36% of hitting the nut flush myself. Did I play this right, or was I just a lucky fool?
You didn't take a big chance at all. Actually, you played it right.

a) You have top pair. So at the flop you are probably about an 80% fav. b)You also have a 4-flush draw on the board, and a nut flush at that, which gives you 39% odds to hit the flush, let alone the fact that you are already in good shape with the top pair.

Personally, I would've went all-in at the flop.
