KK in 3bet multiway pot

    Default KK in 3bet multiway pot

    The main villain is running 19/14/2.0
    Flop turn river aggression of 20/10/17

    Other than that, we haven't been in any major pots together. No other reads.

    I thought pre was pretty standard, 3bet to 3x to protect my KK. So 2 players behind call, the other guy is a fish, running at 43/19/inf over a small sample, but wasn't too worried about him.

    Definitely a safe flop for KK, I bet small to try and keep the medium overpairs in. When villain called, I put him on
    { 88+, AKo, AKs, AQs }

    So basically worst turn ever, I tried to keep the pot small so I checked, hoping he'd check. He bets, I think he probably put me on an overpair too, so he tried to bet me out. I know my equity was good on the turn, can't fold there. I didn't narrow his range this time, because he could easily be betting 88 trying to get a TT or JJ out.

    So he shoves river, at this spot, I don't like to fold or call.

    Any other lines I should have taken? Thanks

    When you check-call the turn, you pretty much commit yourself to calling his slightly less than half-pot shove on the river. If you were behind on the turn, while 5:1 pot odds may look nice, how many hands can he reasonably hold where it's mathematically correct to call with your two-outer?

    And if you're ahead on the turn, then you're still ahead unless he had 88 or 67. The probability of that seems too low to fold getting more than 3:1 after he shoves.

    for starters, i think your flop bet is way too small. i dont think he's folding any of 88-QQ on this board to a 3/4 or greater bet on the flop. plus he can have AsQs AsJs perhaps. we're only realistically afraid of AA which gets 4bet preflop like 70% (estimate) of the time by villains at 25nl = he doesnt have AA as much as he has 88-QQ.
    had you made it $8-$9 on the flop and he called, the pot would be 26-28ish, villain would have $13-14 behind AND we pretty much crush his range. he very rarely has 44 or 55 simply because there are so few possible ways to make those hands out of the cards left in the deck. betting larger allows villain to misplay his hand, as your range is far stronger than his. as played you cant c/c the turn and not call a shove on the river. i probably check/shove the turn. allow your hand to turn face up and let him try to rep the ace. if he has AK here (i think this is unlikely), then bad luck. sure he played the flop bad, but you could have allowed him to play it a whole lot worse by betting more.

    $7 flop, stick the rest in on the turn.
