Welcome !Luck,
Reading books for fundamentals is a good start, that's where I started.
The advice on this website should help also. The first thing you should review are the starting hands. Fnord posted his starting hands on this message board, I also have my starting hands off the home page.
Now that you have the cards you'll be playing, and how you'll be playing them pre-flop, check out the Pot Odds essay off the main page. This will give you a basic understand of pot odds, calculating those pot odds, and how to incorporate that into your game.
You can read that here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/start_pot_odds.html
You can also see a Play-By-Play hand where I consider the pot odds to make the right call - http://www.flopturnriver.com/hand_112603.html
If you have any specific questions, you can post them here!
Good luck.
