Default Just a few for ya'll to roast for me plz!

I haven't posted any HH for awhile as I have been doing most of my HH reviews in IRC. I'm going through todays session which over all was a good session as I ended up a little of 4.5bi's. I still have so many leaks to fill so your help would be appreciated.

    1. Really what I am looking for here isn't so much a review of this particular hand but I guess more opions on when do you get away from "BigSlick?"

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    UTG+1 ($1.74)
    MP1 ($5)
    Hero (MP2) ($2.27)
    MP3 ($5.30)
    CO ($5)
    Button ($1.79)
    SB ($14)
    BB ($3.19)
    UTG ($5.06)

    Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A, K
    1 fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.12, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.42, 5 folds, UTG+1 calls $0.30

    Flop: ($0.87) 9, 4, 2 (2 players)
    UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $0.24, UTG+1 raises to $1.32 (All-In), Hero ??

Again not really concerned about this hand but in general should I even have bet this? Check/fold more appropriate?

    2. So this one goes along the same line as previous question. Should I have even been in this after the flop?

    Hero bets $0.60, MP1 calls $0.60

    River: ($2.34) J (2 players)
    Hero checks, MP1 bets $1.26, Hero ??

    3. Villian is 14/6/20 over 97 hands. Not a lot of reads other than that. I know the flop bet really sucks and I am really working on getting over that "Gee I got a monster and I don't want to scare villian away" mentality.

Just a few to look at if you would. Main thing I really need to figure out how to play the almost monsters, ie; AK

Ok so I have to share this one cuz it really made me laugh. Not posting as a bad beat just a WTF moment!

First "Bad beat" post for me and I'm not really bitching but I just couldn't fucking believe it! Had only been at the table for one orbit not that it matters in this hand as it is standard as to my options.

    Results in white below:
Hero mucked A, A (two pair, Aces and fours).
SB had 4, A (three of a kind, fours).
    Outcome: SB won $3.88

Now I have to admit I talked a little smack but not near as much as I wanted to! Then I brushed it off and made sure it didn't effect my game in anyway. I was very disappointed when dumbass left like 5 hands later.[/b]

When you talk about 'monsters', it seems you're talking about preflop monsters. The game changes completely on the flop. While we can gain value by getting lesser hands involved for a hefty price, we have to re-evaluate where we stand on the flop. On a raggy board against a caller in the blinds, AK doesn't stand a chance. On a draw-heavy board, KK could be in trouble.

    1) The cbet isn't bad. At higher limits you'll find people raising a wider range preflop, so this will be more profitable than it is now.

    2) Generally I would want to raise preflop here. The call isn't that bad tho.

Generally most of us would want to fold to a flop bet here, but the bet is so small that we can make a case for calling.

Generally we're looking for a reason to fold, but we improved a lot and our opponent's range didn't except the A3, A2, and A6s. It's a weird, unlikely spot, but I like the lead out. I don't really like checking the river, but as played I call.

This hand didn't play like a normal hand, it was just downright weird. Both of you showed a lot of weakness, so there are bluffs in his range and yours. He could be value betting a weaker ace, or he could have aces up, or he could just have two random cards hoping you will fold.

Without any read, I call here. It's open to debate...

    3) I don't think I've ever seen a 20 AF, so I'm going to assume this is flop aggression percentage.

Your bet on the flop is WAY too small. Bet close to the size of the pot here. You hit the nail on the head with your mentality. That mentality is usually bad with a monster, and this is not a monster.

The turn is good, there's no likely draws out there, so we're concerned with value. A 2/3 pot bet is pretty standard here.

The river is good as well. we bet for value, he raised, nothing that we beat calls a 3 bet here so we just flat call. We're beat a good portion of the time, but there's no way we can fold an overpair on this board given almost 5:1 odds.
    Check out my self-deprecation here!

In hand 1, I wouldn't cbet the flop
you don't need to take stabs at every pot when you 3b
for example, if you 3b and play fit or fold you'll still be profitable because of the times people fold preflop

if he has a tight UTG+1 range, he only has two overcards 1/3 of the time, the rest of the time he has an overpair/set/flush draw and is willing to play for stacks

Hand 2, I would either c/r the flop or fold
by c/r the flop we're saying "we have 66+"
by calling we're trying to float OOP which means we're checking the turn through and firing on the river
which is kind of shitty compared to check/raising
    I call the river

Hand 3, bet like a man. Don't bet like a bitch.

Hand 4, he left because you berated him in chat. Why would you do that?! Let him sit with the money and take it back
say nh after a bad beat

I have a question along these lines. What do you think about saying "nice play"? I like to say it when someone makes a horrible shove and sucks out on me. It's obviously sarcastic, but I don't know if they'll realize that or not. I just get slightly more pleasure out of saying "nice play" to describe a play that obviously wasn't nice as opposed to saying "nh" to describe a hand that ended up being nicer than mine Thoughts?

As for the OP, on hand 1 if we're going to c-bet less than 1/3 pot, we might as well not even c-bet. Bet/folding $0.60 kinda sucks, so I'm much happier checking behind and trying to spike top pair on the turn.

not sure why but c-beting a 2 flush flop is very -ev

    1. Good general advice for AK is: play it aggressively preflop and give up postflop if you miss. Boards with two lower broadway cards usually give AK very good equity and a good semibluffing opportunity, especially to get villain off an underpair. On low card flops it's better to just muck.

Your weak looking cbet is totally pointless here. Just check behind and hope you hit the turn.

    2. You played it fine. You can also raise preflop. The flop call is good. I would also have bet the river, but as played call expecting to be behind most of the time.

    3. Learn to always cbet same amount, 3/4 pot is good. Later you will learn to vary cbet size according to board texture etc, but it's not needed at microstakes.

    4. Don't post this kind of really boring hands.

Don't say 'nice play'. Say something nice/funny that makes him feel less stupid. I'm going to post a thread about this.
