well played last night for 2 hours and now i have $101 dollars in my account so not a bad first session. Obviously im not one of these guys that has a fairly good session and then thinks their great players cos im not. I would have had more but for a horrible river call when i should have layed it down but hey.

Gonna post some of the session in hand history to see if i can get some feedback. Made most the money on a couple of monsters but maybe could have been slightly more aggressive with the table i had and made more.
Anyway im up on that session and still learnt a few things so makes a change to not have to pay for the lessons tonight!

Thats a pretty big jump in 2 hours on your bankroll, what stakes are you playing? I cant imagine following BR management and doubling your roll in 2 hours.

Read through some of the stickies and check out the posts on BR Management.

To be honest i just had 2 monster hands really n that did it one trip aces and a full house where a raising maniac called me n i took bout 20 bucks each pot. Then just a few little pots so just a lucky couple of hands really!

If I'm reading this right, your not following bankroll management. If you deposited $50 you should be playing $2NL until the roll is 20 buy-ins at $5NL = $100, then 20 buy-ins at $10NL is $200. Your playing the fast track to variance. Up two buy-ins down 3 buy-ins up 4, down 5. Can you handle that?

Im playing at the 25cent nl tables. Its the smallest limit on poker room. Just alot of maniacs there. Like i'd raise 4 dollars on the flop when i hit full house and theyd reraise to 10 dollars etc when i knew i was holding the nuts. Dont think it would happen much though. Like i say just lucky to have a fool at the table!
Am i at the wroing tables tho?

If you are only able to spend $101 on poker, yes, I'm afraid so. If you have more money you are willing to put towards it, then you might be rolled for $25NL (you'll need a commitment of $500 or more for this to be the case). If not, you need to find a site that offers lower stakes tables. Read the excellent bankroll management sticky thread in thsi forum - it'll tell you all you need to know.

General rule of thumb is to have 20 buyins.. so for 25NL that would be $500. My rule of thumb is that for 10NL/20NL/25NL when you somewhat know what you're doing 10 buyins is plenty. If I were you I'd take my $100 and go play 10NL somewhere.. below 5 buyins is really tight because a few bad beats and you're through.

ok im confused. U guys are talking bout 25 dollar tables arent u? Im talking about 25 cents. 4 blinds to the dollar in other words. Sure 50 dollars in my roll gives me 200 blinds? Non?

How much money can you bring to the table? That is what the buy-in means. At a .1/.25 table it is usually $25. You want to have 20 buyins or about $500.

25 cent big blind = $25 max buy-in table. You are vastly under funded to play that level and withstand any significant swings. Move to 10 cent/$10nnl tables with your bankroll.

Seriously, read the bankroll threads. Start here: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...poker-4971.htm

The $0.25 big blind tables are known as $25NL tables because that's the maximum amount you can buy in at. It's generally recommended that you do buy in with that. $50 is only two buy ins, and it's easy enough for a winning player to lose that pretty quickly.

E.g. I play $25NL (same as you) and I went down >3 buyins ($81) earlier today. I'm back to -$15 now, and it's been a bad day, but bad days happen.

Again, read that thread I posted at the top.

if your willing to put more money into this when you have non in your account then go ahead and play 25nl with your roll if your looking to really start a "career" of sorts then cash out your roll move it to stars and play 5 nl.

bankroll managment is key I promise you that if you keep on playing you will eventually have a 10 buyin downswing which at your stakes would be -250$$, but you don't have to manage your bankroll like a pro if this is just a hobby for you
