JJ situation against a shortstack pre-flop

I'm a little confused as to how I should handle this situation: You are dealt JJ or TT on the button. A ~50BB stack in early position raises to about 10BB. Everyone folds to you. What do you do if you don't know much about villain? You can't play for set value here, and if he bets out the flop he's probably pot-committing himself. I've been folding this lately - is this horrible? Thoughts everyone?

really depends on a lot of things, like how tight I think his range is, table dynamics (like who's behind me and how big their stacks are, etc.) and a bunch of other things. The difference between the mid/high pairs though is pretty significant. Like the difference between queens and tens here is astronomical. We'd really need a HH to see, but suffice it to say that if you have TT/JJ, and can put him on a range of overcards/overpair, you should fold.
