Default JJ oop min raises confuse me!

Villain: 17/6 and 3-bets 17% over small sample of 67 hands

    $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Holdem
    7 Players
    Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com

    Stacks:
    UTG Hero ($7.74)
    UTG+1 string_nn ($4.91)
    MP Tadeusz 1947 ($2.70)
    CO Stan Beamish ($1.83)
    BTN majal111 ($3.58)
    SB v1rtual888 ($5.11)
    BB peterpan_gt7 ($4.73)

    Pre-Flop: ($0.07, 7 players) Hero is UTG
Hero raises to $0.20, 3 folds, majal111 raises to $0.40, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.20

    So I like my J's and lead out with my standard 4x bet. When villain min raises me I don't give it a lot of credibility but I also don't want to pump up the pot either so I just call. I figure a range something like {22+,A2s+,KTs+,QJs,ATo+,KQo}

    Flop: ($0.87, 2 players)
Hero bets $0.50, majal111 raises to $1, Hero calls $0.50

Pretty comfortable with an over pair so I bet for value not wanting to push out smaller pp's. Now the min bet feels odd and I narrow his range {QQ+,TT-99,22,AKs,ATs-A9s,A2s,KJs-KTs,QJs,AKo,ATo,KQo} which still puts us a slight favorite to win. 53.735%

    Turn: ($2.87, 2 players)
    Hero checks, majal111 goes all-in $2.18, $2.18 to Hero ($6.34)?

At this point I'm pretty confused and really am not sure what to think of his range at this point? Do we really eliminate everything here other than sets and overs? If so obviously I'm crushed but I just don't know if I'm thinking this one through properly or not?

check the flop imo. I'd fold the flop minraise as played also, the range you gave him for doing that is way too big
[00:29] <daven> dc, why not check turn behind
    [00:30] <DC> daven
    [00:30] <DC> on my hand?

yea the range you give him for pre is much too wide. I don't know about you sample size for 3bet stats but they can be very skewed over a "decent" sample. he is 3betting TT AQ or something vs utg given his vpip/pfr unless he's on crazy tilt. His sizing really sucks whatever he has but I check/hate my life on the flop. I can find a fold if he acts quickly and pots or shoves.

Knowing hes 17/6 plays a much bigger role than knowing hes 3bet 17% of the time. Knowing if that means 1/6 or 11/67 makes a huge difference...but since he's a 17/6 we can infer that its likely 1/6.

So then this is just a standard nitty guy who has a dumb 3bet sizing.

I don't think he can have many smaller pps. You could argue for 88+ but even then the only thing you beat is 88.

With the betting on the flop and the turn I would fold on the turn after the all in.

    are you set-mining?
does 17% 3b mean he has 3b once over such a small sample? does 6% pfr provide more useful information in this spot? what happened in the last hand he 3b?

I like how you played it. It's hard to get away from this hand. Folding to the flop raise after the min 3-bet might have been best, but calling down with an overpair can't be bad. He has big hands here, but he has nonsense hands too.

    edit:
um, didn't see this was full ring, so I'm not really sure. His stats could be misleading, but he's not full-stacked and he's minraised twice in this hand. That tells you he's fishy, for sure. In general, you should give the fish alot of credit because they're usually passive. Some fish like to make small stupid bluffs but if you haven't seen him do this, you should give him credit and fold on the flop or turn.
