Improper 4th Burn Card

    Default Improper 4th Burn Card

To fully understand this let me lay out the hand

(I was playing hold'em with a few buddies of mine --- tournament style with $20 buy -ins)

I had pocket 4's and the other guy had a 4 5 off

    Burn card and then the flop --- A 4 9 all non-suited

After I bet and he called --- burn card --- 5 on 4th street

Then while i was counting my chips to go all-in with trips of 4's the dealer burns the next card --- both me and the other guy called

He then burns another card and the river shows a 7 ----- i win trips beats two pair

Then the dealer goes "Oops, i burned too many cards" and flipped over the forth burn card and it was a 5 --- I lose?

Is that considered a misdeal or should the "forth burn card" be the actual river?

Answer: It's up to house rules.

Elaborate: In my house, I would have to accept the correction on the river. As long as people agree tht the mistake was made. I can't stand in the way of making the hand what it should be.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

    himself fucker.
Our house rules are: We reverse the act if it's agreed which card should have actually been shown. If then neither side agrees, we just return the burn cards into the deck. Shuffle and burn again and deal a new river. This situation has come up a few times, but the last time it was in jest for one guy was drawing dead into the river to a made straight.

    My house:
If we forget to burn a card, which is more likely, we just leave the card on board, and it plays. Once a card hits the board, it stays there. Burn to many and catch it before a card is flipped, then correct it. Once the card is flipped, it's too late.

I saw something similar at the WSOP this year. Another card was dealt and not a word was said other than the usual grumbling about bogus dealers.

But at the house all of those rules are established before anyone sets down if there are new players - sure saves in broken furniture and body parts...

BTW. Am new to this forum and to Holdem. Would like to know how you all got a picture attached to your posts?

At my last home game we only had 1 spoken house rule. "A misdeal gets you a shot. Short stack at the table gets to choose your shot."

We had a couple of mistakes made. But all were pretty simple.

1 person raised his hand on the flop, next person re-raised. 1st person called and flipped his cards over. he thought person 2 was all-in, but he was wrong. They turned to me (the host) and I said, "Just play it out as though you both are all-in. No more betting." Simple answer. But it was made on the fly.

Just make sure your game knows who makes the decisions (the host or whoever) and make sure that person makes fair decisions. That should make everyone happy.

Now, did you go all in after the river or on the turn??, if you went all in in the river i say the card should stay, but if you went all-in on the turn then he wins with the 5. the truth is it all depends on your house rules

I think we can all agree that a card that has not been seen is random. Therefore, when you calculate outs for a flush draw, you have 9 outs. So burn cards shouldn't matter.

I can burn 1 card and show the turn/river or burn 8 cards and show the turn/river. The probability is still the same, so I don't understand people who complain "mis-burned" cards, or "mis-dealt" cards.

My house: As long as the card is shown, leave it.
