I'm playing too tight MTT / Turbos
Hello all,
I've had good fortune with my return to online NLHE, and I'm doing fine BR wise, but I'm hitting the same "glue patch in the road" in each tourney I play. I play very tight, I don't give my chips away easily, but I do not call sometimes when I should after an aggressive bettor bets into me. I've programmed my mind to work towards longevity and survival instead of risk. Sometimes (well, a decent amount of the time), it pays off, a better hand+FTR comes and I continue with a better stack. Over the last week or two, I'm blinding out (or busting on a marginal hand that was played with an impending blind-out approaching) way more than not. The last 10 MTT (Stars micro 4/NL, 2/NL turbo, 5/NL, etc) I have come within 10 spots of ITM almost everytime. Today, I was within 1 spot of ITM 3x when I busted. Matter of fact, 2 of those 3 today happened at the same time on different tables when my AK was beat by a river straight and my 5's over Q's full house were beat by Q's over 8's when the river paired 8's on the board. LOL. Anyhow, any suggestion on how to adjust my play-style and not only make to the money, but progress better towards the final table?
As a side note, my first two weeks back, I made it to the final table on 14/23 tourneys, playing this exact gameplan. Any ideas or advice are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Matt
