short poker career. I got the money in good but just lost on BS. how do you guys deal with the emotional aspect? I had a really bad beat that put me down 1 bi early and this hurt me the rest of the day. total I lost about 4 Bi's after I was up almost 6. Poker is a filthy bitch

It's all perception. I was down 6 buy ins today and ended about 1.8 down. That feels like succes to me.

what's a freaking buy in anyways. Just play take ur decision. Emotions in poker is what takes most players down , even talented ones. U should seriously have a ' not giving a fuck' attitude while playing. I tile my tables but i don't even watch when the monies go in. I used to tilt like a monky and learned the hard way. Take ur decision , focus on ur next hand once u decided. It's just pointless. Only reason why i want to know the outcome of a hand is to take notes and that's it

any day I feel I played really well and didn't make decisions too fast or impulsively is a success to me. bbs up or down isn't really important.

Absolutely true. I find that calmly reviewing my hands in HEM when all is said and done usually makes me feel alot better. Especially when after fair analyses there is no spew to be seen. And when i notice some spew it just feels like i learned why it was spew.

Poker in general comes with a price. If u play well and run bad. That's the price of the game. If u play bad and run bad, it'll be even more expensive. And vice versa ofcourse. Even when u played a few hands bad but you honestly tried to play it to your best of your abilities , it's all good.

It's only after i started to treat poker like some sort of complex videogame that tiltemotions started to fade away while grinding. I tried everything to get rid of my tilt blow ups. Nothing worked until i treated it as a fun videogame with levels. Like now i'm playing level 1 and i treat my buy ins as ' credits'. Maybe i can amass more credits while playing level 1 and i might even get to level 2 ( higher buy ins).

That's how i look at it. Old school videogames like in the arcade

I deal with tilt by angrily making offensive notes like "fucking wanker can't fold top pair for shit, owes me $10", add him to my shitlist, then I make a spliff and cup of tea. Life is suddenly brilliant again. You can't do that at work, can you? Boss tells you to do something you don't want to do, you can't tell him to fuck off and go for a smoke, you take it like a bitch.

Man up, that's my advice. Oh, and BR management etc.

Some people have to go through a form of desensitization. When you're starting out, it may upset you to lose say $1 or $2 to a beat. After playing for a while, during which this has happened a number of times, it doesn't affect you any more, or far less anyway. Then, as you improve and move up, you're likely to find other levels where similar feelings arise. Quite possibly, it won't be every level.

    Can I copy this?

Apart from maybe the spliff, bit. That would be, like, illegal and stuff!
Get this; a fish trying to learn how to use a fishing rod!

For legal purposes, I should point out that "spliff" is local slang for a hand rolled cigarette. Under no circumstances am I suggesting I am smoking illegal drugs. I didn't even know "spliff" means cannabis cigarette to some, I guess every day's a school day.
