The only problem I see is buying into a .05/.10 PL room with only $4. Please, but in with the full $10 so you can take advantage of big hands.

Otherwise, it's tough to play the 1st hand without any reads on other players. I may have bet the flop, and the turn a little more agressively, just because you are either going to find someone with a hand who will pay you off, or find you are the only one with a hand and it will be tough to pay you off.

The second hand could have been a good fold, depending on your situation. I really like suited Aces 4-handed. But I can see a near pot size raise scaring you out. For someone in your shoes, I'd say the second hand was played well. When you play for real money (actually, when you play any poker, you can't live in the world of would've.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

I like the check on the flop, if you happen to be beat you may save money, otherwise you give everyone a chance to catch up. Then I think you have to check/call the turn and pray someone makes a hand.

River I'm betting more, may even try to over bet the pot and hope someone thinks you're making a play.

Overall tho you played it fine, tough to make money with a junk board like this.

'Please, buy in with the full $10 so you can take advantage of big hands.'

    Amen.

re: hand 2, are you asking whether you should have somehow known the turn was going to give you 2pr? once you fold, what falls on the board is totally irrelevant to your decision, unless you are some kind of fortune teller.

You caught a FH with T5 your first money hand. My comment is May God Save You! Your first money lesson was basically "any 2 can win". I suggest you pray, meditate, study, get a labotomy, and go through detox to protect yourself from playing loose. You played it fine, BTW.

The A8 hand, look up my post on Woulda-Coulda Syndrome and you'll have your answer.

Welcome to the money player's fold. Good Luck.

Hand 1, I would have bet that flop. Even though the board doesn't show any str8 or flush draws out there, your loose opponents are going to call; that's what they do!

At higher limits, and/or with less people in the hand you might want to consider slow-playing, but in this specific micro-limit situation, I think a bet on the flop is in order.

lol - good advice listen to aok

My experience with nl cash games has been horrific. Too many times I found myself all-in with the 2nd best hand and my bankroll won't support that. That's why I play SnGs or MTTs (I only risk my buyin while I get to know the dynamics of this crazy game). Unless you have lots-o-cash I would suggest you consider staying away from the NL rings. Otherwise you may want to try limit - fnord's posts can help you out alot with that game.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.

NL Ring is free money to good players. As long as the betting is "normal" TPTK is probably the best hand, but once the betting gets hot you need the top flush, sneaky trips or the happy end of that straight. I almost never call huge bets or raises with the "obvious" hand, and I sure as hell won't do it with "obvious hand bad kicker".

The above isn't absolute and you'll lay down the best every once in a while, but you will get paid with the nutz, and that makes up for the couple little hands you might have marginally won.
