I am I the Donk?
Hello all, this is what would be my first post had I not posted on the introduce yourself column.
Will try and post for the Bikes comp too if I have time!
Funny little thing happened just now:
PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 2 players
Hero (SB): $10.05
BB: $9.30
Hero posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10
Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero has T J
Hero raises to $0.30, BB calls $0.20
Flop: ($0.60, 2 players) 8 2 Q
BB checks, Hero bets $0.42, BB calls $0.42
Turn: ($1.44, 2 players) 9
BB checks, Hero bets $0.68, BB raises to $1.90, Hero raises to $7.07, BB raises to $8.58 and is all-in, Hero calls $1.51
River: ($18.60, 2 players) 4
BB shows 2 2 (Three of a Kind, Twos) (PreFlop 48%, Flop 85%, Turn 23%)
Hero shows T J (Straight, Queen High) (PreFlop 52%, Flop 15%, Turn 77%)
Hero wins $18.10
Villains words were "rofl what a donk"
Correct me if I'm being overly defensive here but I'm almost certain he's the donk here:
Sure I bet out with J10o but was in position, and villain just calls with trash out of position.
I keep it aggressive and bet out and he flat calls, I hit my hand and then he decides to raise it up?! When I make that big raise I figure he could only have two pair a set or also a straight - in each case all the money is going in. Anything about this play that screams donk to you?
Very soon after:
PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hero (BTN): $20.75
SB: $9.95
BB: $10.00
UTG: $10.00
CO: $10.00
SB posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10
Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero has 5 5
fold, CO raises to $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, fold, fold
Flop: ($0.75, 2 players) K 4 5
CO bets $0.40, Hero calls $0.40
Turn: ($1.55, 2 players) 3
CO bets $0.90, Hero raises to $2.00, CO calls $1.10
River: ($5.55, 2 players) J
CO bets $2.20, Hero calls $2.20
CO shows T 6 (Flush, King High) (PreFlop 49%, Flop 27%, Turn 30%)
Hero mucks 5 5 (Three of a Kind, Fives) (PreFlop 51%, Flop 73%, Turn 70%)
CO wins $9.47
Previous player says something like "see, DONK"
Here I thought I played it fairly sensibly pre-flop possibly should've folded fives but villain wasn't that tight. I made it expensive for villain to draw that last spade - I guess in hindsight if I was betting to draw out a flush I should've been more scared of the spade (I didn't re-raise the river for that reason). I maybe should've folded the set? I didn't stack however.. Unlike the "donk"
But I was still sucked out on, right?
I was a bit annoyed I lost this one, but mainly because the egotistical ass to my left was up him self.
I've tried to give my own analysis on it. I'd like to hear yours. Cheers - great site.
