Default How to spot a set? (and save your stack)

I seem to lose my stack with TPTK against a set quite often. I have TPTK and some one slow-plays their set and I lose my stack!

How do you spot a set?

I read this article in the forums...but didn't really help me.

    Villian is 33/23.

    Cake Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.04 BB (8 handed) - Cake-Poker Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    UTG ($3.92)
    Hero (UTG+1) ($3.67)
    MP1 ($5.17)
    MP2 ($4)
    CO ($11.58)
    Button ($1.50)
    SB ($3.37)
    BB ($2.61)

    Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A, K
    1 fold, Hero bets $0.16, 1 fold, MP2 calls $0.16, 4 folds

    Flop: ($0.38) 10, K, 5 (2 players)
    Hero bets $0.26, MP2 calls $0.26

    Turn: ($0.90) 7 (2 players)
    Hero bets $0.60, MP2 calls $0.60

    River: ($2.10) 4 (2 players)
    Hero bets $1.40, MP2 raises to $2.80, Hero calls $1.25 (All-In)

    Total pot: $7.40 | Rake: $0.49

    Results:
Hero had A, K (one pair, Kings).
    MP2 had 7, 7 (three of a kind, sevens).
    Outcome: MP2 won $6.91

What would have been the appropriate action on the river? C/C or C/F river on the completed flush draw.

How would you have played the hand from beginning to end?

So many weaktight microfish will call this river with a set, fearing the flush. I applaud this fish's river value-raise.

I don't know w. TPTK hands OOP I've been giving up the lead if I lead the flop and Checking the turn For PC',

You really have no idea w/ your line here, your already feeding the pot, So I don't think he's slow-playing.

does he c/r NFD, or any two D's, floats 44, 66-99, and JJ, Kx, AQ, AJ, JT, QT,

I'm checking the turn here and seeing what villain does... maybe I'm losing value...

Wait... 4nl and you don't have $4 at the table? Why?

Guess my b/f b/f b/f line is flawed because how the fuck am I folding river as played? We've got less left behind than the river bet. Not sure where I get away from this. I really don't want to call river but we don't have to catch many worse hands to show a profit. Question is of course are we ever good when he shoves over our river bet?

Sizing is bad imo. Plan the hand before choosing how big to bet. b/f b/f shove is my preferred line.

TPTK in a non 3bet pot OOP is not usually played for stacks without a damn good read.

Thing is, if villain insists on calling this down, where do we get away? Are we c/f the turn or river?

I called coz it was 1.25 to win 6.15. I just had to win 1/5 times just in case he is raising with TPTK. Idk, I just wasn't thinking straight...maybe not thinking at all.

@OngBonga In Cake poker, there is no option to auto topup when the stack falls below our 100bb buy-in. It auto rebuys, when the stack falls 10bbs below the original buy in.

@jyms - How would you have gone about playing the hand. The villain is loose aggressive 33/23.

Easy fold on the turn? I don't know, I'm going to be extra careful with top pair hands. Unknown villain.

At the bar drinking whisky with an "e"
AA hand is fine. Get this in vs short stacker every time.

    Is this a shallow table???

by the time the turn comes here you got around 30bb in , and approx 20 left... I don't see gettin away from this one given the villains c/c on the flop

We should slow down w/ tptk , but what about overpairs & 50bb's???(I'd really like advice on that)..

I wouldn't bet out on the river - probably not the turn either.
