    Default How to play JJ

Before you carry on reading I realize this is a very vague question.

I would just like to know how people play JJ from EP, MP and LP. Is it always a raise? Do you call a 3 bet IP/OOP? If an overcard hits on flop, do you slow down? Etc, etc.

I really struggle with this hand, same with TT, but not to this extent.

    Depends on table dynamics

Although I occasionally lapse, in general I don't call 3bets OOP with anything. If you can't 4bet for value and get it in or 4bet-fold as a bluff, fold.

It's your first hand at a brand new table

OK, that's fair enough I guess. Would you 4 bet the JJ OOP then or fold it?

That's where it comes down to reads. Readless, I'd fold 80+% of the time probably and 4bet occasionally, leaning more towards 4betting if there's a positional dynamic like I've opened the CO and been 3bet by the button.

With reads, the proportions would change. So if someone is 3betting 20% and not really folding to 4bets then I'll be more likely to 4bet for value. If someone is 3betting 3% and running 12/10 overall I'll be folding.

The problem with 4bet bluffing with a hand like JJ is that most of what might fold is not beating you anyway, but flipping, so JJ is not a good hand to do that with - I was more talking about a general approach to handling being 3bet OOP when I referred to 4bet bluffing as an option.

    Depends.

Who's raised before it gets to us? From what position? What are their stats from this position? What is their stack? Who's left to act behind us? What is our position? What is our table image? Is it raining?

There's no simple way to say "that's how I play JJ", it differs from table to table vs different villains and from different positions. Sometimes I just call, often I 3bet, occasionally I fold, rarely do I 4bet but like I said, depends on villain.

What can I say that answers the general question?
I'd never play JJ in an unraised pot from any position. NEVER.

The simple answer your looking for is what makes poker so hard, there is no answer to your question as you post it.. You need to spend more time reading the digest
