    Default How to NOT play AA

    16/13/5 over 300 hands and im a little scared of him... which resulted in me playing poorly. But, how should I have played this...

    When he call preflop his range is fairly easy to determine something like any suited broadway, 67s,78s,98s,9ts, no AK or QQ+

    My equity against that is awesome. Yet when he bets i get scared and allow him to profitable play any draw and the turn is even worse.

    By the time the river comes, his range has to be something like 78,jt,slow played sets, and a few busted flush bluffs, but I really don't see this guy overbetting the pot to bluff. Really at this point it is a pretty clear fold.

    Poker stove on river. And I even didn't include pockets, which would only make my equity even worse. KINDA frustrated with pokerstove, but it shows that this is bad call.

    Board: Ts 4c 3c Jd 9s
    Dead:

    equity win tie pots won pots tied
    Hand 0: 26.667% 26.67% 00.00% 8 0.00 { AhAs }
    Hand 1: 73.333% 73.33% 00.00% 22 0.00 { AJs, AcTc, Ac9c, Ac8c, Ac7c, Ac6c, Ac5c, Ac2c, KQs, JTs, 87s, KQo }

    Worst CALL EVER. Next time I need to raise 1.15 on Flop, play it from there.

    Raise the flop. All you can be worried about here is sets and there's plenty draws that will felt/continue to a raise on this flop as well as worse pocket pairs. As you said flatting just lets the draws play well vs you and they probably do make up a fair chunk of this guy's range.

    I agree that as played the river looks like a fold. If he bets a normal size I'd likely be snapping, given that the FD bricked and our hand is hugely under repped, but I just don't see people overbetting as a bluff too often at these stakes, especially a guy with solidish looking stats. There are plenty value hands he can have by this river.

    Your turn and river decisions would be easier if you'd just raise the flop. What are you trying to do by calling his weak ass donk bet on the flop? If he's got a set, boo-hoo, but for the love of FTR, don't ever play so gay again. If this is normal for you against these types of players, move back down to 5NL until you can mentally handle it.

    If his pf stats are somewhat reliable the range you gave is too wide imo.

    Id raise/fold flop most of the time, this is actually a spot where it pays off to have notes on villians leading habits, whether he´s b/3betting sets or b/calling draws or b/folding 66ish hands. I bet you he does one of those three options with 95% freq, so raising has a lot of merit to define his range until we know his frequencies.

    i think we can raise/fold flop, or raise flop and fold to significant aggression on turn. most villains arent going to try and bluff you with a flush draw on the turn after you raised the flop (esp seeing as this guy doesn't get out of line). neither are they going to try and value bet KT, AT, or probably even JJ OOP after your flop raise.

    we also get value on the flop from villain's calling range if it involves any top pairs, JJ, or flush/straight draws.
