dont see as many flops, and learn when to fold more.

The reason you are probably losing 50% of your showdowns is because you are seeing the flop with mediocre hands.
Say for example you see the flop with K-8. You flop a pair of kings, and the rest of the board is rags (no flush or straight possibilities). If you end up seeing the river you will probably loose as someone most likely has a better king than you, such as K-J or K-A.

So if you learn to fold mediocre hands preflop you wont loose as many showdowns probably.
