    Default HI MODS, IM NEW

    Hello everyone,

Ok, so this is in the shorthanded forum also, but it seems noone goes there, so i thought I'd reintroduce myself here too.

Im 26 I live in FL im pro poker player ( i live off playing) Live and online. I play mostly small stakes online, but i Bonus whore and get Rakeback. I play on alot of different sites. I hope to offer somthing to this comunity as well learn new things also.

Heres a hand open for disscution.

I was reading through your 6max faq and stratgy stickys and noticed some real poker truth being spoken. While I was reviewing my sess from last night i stumbled across this hand here.... At first i thought about how bad i played it (being completly in line with the stratagy here, youll see many spots where i was making "mistakes") Howeve upon futher inspection i noticed alot of my line was due to reads! I had notes on the players and over 600 hands a piece in PT, also they had been at the table w/ me for more then 90min.

The plot thickens. As I looked closer, going with my reads, I noticed i really like the way I played it, even though on the surface (without reads) it looks pretty bad. I think its important to realize how much reads play a part in poker, and to not let ourselvs always get caught up in a "systimatic" or poker by the numbers as I like to call it, type of mentality about the game.

I cant get the hand convertor to work (vegas poker?) but ill try and clean this up.

    HOLDEM NORMAL $0.50/$1 - 2007-06-06 21:50:06 (ET)

    Dealt to SHAKENBAKED [Kc Kh]
    Folds
    TAG - Raises $1 to $1

    HERO - Calls $1
    LPP - Calls $0.75
    Folds
OK SO I COLD CALL!!! EWWWWW. BUT...THIS IS A STEAL MOST OF THE TIME TO ME, MP IS A TAG SO I DONT WANT TO SCARE HIM TO MUCH, THE BLINDS ARE BOTH LPP SO HAVING THEM IN IS GOOD TOO. (being in pots with stong hands, in position, and aginst weak players=profit so come on in)+ So I CC and the bb fold ? must have had 2/8 cause he was Loose, and we take the flop 3-way

    *** FLOP *** [Kd 3c 9d]
    LPP - Bets $0.50
    TAG - Calls $0.50
    HERO- Raises $1 to $1
    LPP- Calls $0.50
    TAG - Calls $0.50

OMG WHY RAISE WAIT TILL THE TURN MAXIMIZE VALUE, UGLY. BUT......i FELT THE FISH HAD A WEAK KING OR MABY A 9, 9-3 AT BEST, THE TAG CALLS...NOW IF I CALL THE TAG IS ALERTED THAT I HAVE SOME SORT OF HAND HERE, AND UNLESS HE PRETTY STRONG (TP AT LEAST) HES BAILING ON THE TURN WEATHR THE FISH LEADS OR IF HE C/F'S TO MY BET. SO I RAISE TO GET THE EXTRA BET SB NOW. (also charging a possible fl draw)
IF HE IS THAT STRONG HES GONA 3 BET MY FLOP RAISE. aND MORE THEN LIKLY PLAY THE TURN AGRESSIVLY AS WELL, ESPESSALY IF HE HAS A HAND LIKE K9 OR EVEN 33, 99.
Make sence now? looks bad but really i think it was the way to get the absolute most out of the hand at this point.

    *** TURN *** [Kd 3c 9d] [6c]
    LPP - Checks
    TAG - Checks
    HERO - Bets $1
    LPP - Calls $1
    TAG - Folds
as expected the tag was on the steal and was done on the turn. I guess the fish has a king or a 9, eaither way we're goin to value town.

    *** RIVER *** [Kd 3c 9d 6c] [7c]
    LPP - Checks
    HERO - Bets $1

    LPP - Mucks
SHAKENBAKED Collects $13.80 from main pot

(small blind) HI: [Mucked] [7d 3d]

So he was bein fishy calling down a weak hand then improving to 2nd best. Anyone think if I Raise preflop, Call flop, Raise turn is the best line still?

Reads are Important, Im justreally starting to understand why for the first time. I got caught up in poker by numbers for a long time, then i started playing live. That showed me how much you can up you BB/100 by apply reads, and not just playing by the numbers.

Get weak players in pots with you when you have position and good holdings, don chase them away. Realize when tags are stealing, and get your value in on the flop, as they will mostly bail on the turn UI.

Thats what i learned from my review any way. I hope I contruibuted somthing that will help people play and win atpoker.

(havent gotten any responces really on the other forums, any thoughts?

OK I dont play much limit at all so feel free to criticize/ ignore my thoughts.

    Preflop:
You know hes in a steal position and you dont want to scare him off. Fair enough.

He knows you know hes in a steal position so theres a good chance he 4bets weaker than from other positions. Also if you 3bet hes getting good odds to call with alot of the reasonable stealing hands anyway so he probably doesnt fold too often preflop.

I think you cost yourself value preflop by not 3betting. The only reason I can see for not raising again preflop is if you want to wait for the turn and the double bet. I dont think thats a particularly good reason but meh. You didnt wait for the turn anyway.

    Flop:
Drawless board and you have a very strong hand for that board so raising and calling could both work. Raising now nets you an extra $1 now if they both call. Raising the turn nets $2 if they both call AND if he bets the turn. Given your read that the bettor is passive I think he usually has some sort of hand he will keep betting with so I prefer waiting. Also if they check to you on the turn there is more chance they will both call your single bet than if you raise the flop and then they check the turn.

I think waiting until the turn to raise is slightly better.

    River:
    plays itself.

p.s. You left your SN in at the bottom. Dont know if thats intentional.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

Well the pf cc is because i dont want to scare the 2 lp's you thin he'd call 7-3 off for 21/2 cold...no but 1 1/2 sure why not. Same goes for BB. I wanted the weaker players (blinds) in the pot with me so they cold make mistakes (thats what fish do) also i was certain that the turn would be checked, his Af was under .05 so i really doubt hes gona lead the turn OOP with bottom pair Nk into 2 opps. The tag would definatly check on the turn if hes not 3 betting preflop. I know the line looks weird but READ what goes with it, its the point of the post. You raise PF you get it heads up on flop with tag who more then likely folds to flop raise or c/f turn bet.
