Umm....I've never played on stars, but from what I hear the toughest games are there (?). AND this is 200NL? Or is this just a select rarity?? Or should I open an account on stars for microlimit NL...

Stars or no stars, if you know what you're doing, you can make just about anyone put money in when you're ahead. I would say they call Stars harder because people go there from other sites where they won a lot of money, but realize they have no real poker skills while doing so (traps, image management, reads). They're just smart enough not to play super stupid, which was good enough to win a lot of $$$ on donkypoker.com. On PokerStars, the smart raw players adapt to the "real" poker environment, and become smart seasoned players who figure out new and exciting ways to Pwn. If you're a smart person, you'll make money on Stars too. It's just different. There just aren't as many fish.

Implied odds at 200-400NL on Stars are delicious to say the least though. I find that money moves around rather fluidly on these tables.

The big secret of poker is that you will bust almost anyone if you make the proper adjustments to counteract their style of the moment. Stars is not immune to this.
Thanks for your reply to my post Rondavu. I have a question to throw out to the FTR gang. My warning is this post will be fairly lengthy.

A little background on my experience so far. I've been playing for less than a year now and I have less than 15 000 hands under my belt. I figure I'm about a break even player (or slightly profitable), but I did get on a couple rushes to build my bankroll from $75 (instantbankroll) to just over $600 now. I play at the 25NL level or so. I find that I can only really beat the fishes profitably, and I play a style of TAG or tight passive depending on the table (also camping of course). I still play the around 20 starting hands with a VPIP less than 20%. Most of my profit was made off sets and AA and KK, but I now realise that my tight table image probably kills action on my good hands. Also, the big hands I do have that get paid off are usually early when I've joined a game and the players don't yet label me a rock. I'm still not solid postflop either. I think the hands that I do get paid off are the ones where the op has a decent hand also (ie. two pair to my set etc). In essence, I felt that Rondavu's description above describes me.

Basically, I want to know how I can open my game up and learn how to become a winning player. I've picked up on a lot of concepts by reading posts here, but I still have not found a good way to win consistently. Is there a strategy I can take to learn this?

I found this post earlier:

Is this a good way to learn how to open up my game?

Thanks FTRs and Rondavu for your insight.
