    Default Help

Is this one of those I should have just gotten away from? From the flop action the only hands I could put villain on were maybe AJ+ and 44, but I had a really bad feeling about 44. I was kicking myself afterwards, because it's one of those hands I feel like I played badly because I felt like I played against my better judgment. Is this one of those I need to learn to catch, or was it played OK? (Villain is 32/2, though I had no HUD stats at the time.)

I'm hoping to get it all in on the flop there. If he's got me with a higher set, or was dumb enough to call the PF raise w/ 52, so be it.

I might have shoved the flop but the way you played it wasn't bad.

If he's got A4 or 44 meh cooler. But I'm not gonna fold a FH

He did have the 44, btw. It was the second time in two days that I'd been beaten by set over set. Maybe that takes care of my quota for March.

I wish I could have that quota.

my last 4k hands have had many many coolers.

set over set atleast 3 times,
straight over straight on flop twice
ive even had a str flush beaten by a royal.

and ive also had other sets dominated by boats/straights/flushes by calling stations atleast another 5 times.

including 2 flopped boats beaten by 2 rivered boats.

and last but not least, AK & the flopped set of A's with K kicker beaten by rivered boats with villains AQ and A6

each and every time i got it all in when i wanted, but lately i feel as though i just "know" im gonna get beat even holding monsters.

oh well, it has to end soon, and I'm going to enjoy the bounce back up...

so, i guess i hope im done my quota for 2008 :P

Just an example of why being deep rolled is beneficial.

    yup.

i run pretty up and down all month, but late in feb i went up about 7 buyins over 3k hands, then the next 4k hands were filled with coolers taking me down about 6.

Agreed, which is why a hand like this doesn't bug me too much. I'm quite deeply rolled for $25 and can shake these off. In fact, I had this and one other bad beat last night, but scratched out a break-even night anyway (just played for an hour or so).

The flopped set over set scenario is supposed to be pretty rare, and I can go several weeks sometimes without getting bitten by it. Worse for me lately is when I am dealt a straight preflop. In the last week I've had that 4 times and lost 3 of them to flushes. And I don't slow play them; I have given rotten odds to draw to the flush and they still hit them.

Anyway, maybe this will get booted to the bad beat forum....
