    Default Hands Tied

The 8's in both hands are off suit. No flush. Question is does the sesond 8 in hand 2 count as a pair of 8's or does the Ace in hand 1 count as a high card kicker?

There are 4 clubs on the board; hand 2 has a club (making a flush), whereas hand 1 only has a straight. Hand 2 wins.

Are you getting confused with omaha where you are required to use two of your hole cards? In holdem, you can use only one and it's still a legit hand.
