    Default Hand Question

Hey, thx for all the help before. I took a week off of poker just cause I was having horrific luck. I went back to playing today and did ok. Making some money back. This hand is an example of what happened today:

I was BB (7h Jh) and the other guy was 2nd to act... He called BB and everyone folded to me, so I checked. My personal perception of his game was pretty tight, but will limp in here and there.

    Flop was: 7s 7c 9s

I bet out 0.50 and got raised to 1. I then re-raised him to 2.. n he called all in.. soo i called.. i thought he mite haf a 7 too.

Turn: 6s & River was irrelevant

He fliped over 8s 10s to make straight flush.. so I lost. Just wondering if I played this hand wrong or sumthing? Did luck just kick in?

    Thanks guys.. =)

Yes, you got your money in while ahead (60% chance to win). Unfortunately, he had two of the best hands to have. The best hand here was 97, and the second best would be T8s as that has the potential to crack ANY made hand.

Did he make a mistake? Depends how much was in the pot. If you both had even stacks, yes, he made a mistake. If you were shortstacked he may not have made a mistake here.

I'm not a good cash game player, but in a tourney I can almost never see myself laying down an OESFD on the flop.

Just, unlucky. Play that hand the same way 100 times and you'll profit.

I'm the same way and lost a few tournaments this week to that type of thinking.

Granted, I have won a few hands thinking like that, but it tends to lose me a tournament or win me a hand.

That's how many online tourney's are played. One hand will make you or break you. Play the odds.

Did I miss something here? From the flop, Isn't 99 the best hand, followed by 97, then A7, etc.? T8s is less than 40% according to Mr. Stove, while Q7 is almost double.

    Sorry, missed 99.

I was trying to point out T8s is the only hand that can break any of the best hands.

    All details anyway.
