Wow. This is somewhat similar to what I did last night.
Pulled an AA, and just called a raise preflop instead of reraising it again - trying to disguise my hand and hoping for an A in the flop, getting really late and tired, or too jumpy on the call button I dunno. Result is that it's 4-way, not so hot for AA.
Anyhow flop comes color coordinated with a K high card. Fine, bet them out of it right? Nope - the initial raiser jumps in before me (I was in late position) and ups it to $2 - at that point I wasn't certain whether or not he had KK, Kx with 1 or 2 pair - so I called - again stupid - raise or fold raise or fold - turn shows non-flush trash, I called on the turn again - just trapped at this point - and river shows non-flush 10. I see it again and it turns out one of the other callers had 10-10 - very few outs for him on this hand (same as me really) and he just got lucky. The initial semi-heavy raiser had K-Q, so I had him beat.
I had him on KK or Kx, and figured that his raises were substantial enough to chase off any stupid calls.
I could deal with a bad beat from a stupid caller.
I couldn't deal with my poor play - when I should have reraised or gone allin post-flop I just sat on it with a confused read on the raiser and very few outs. Stupid.
After that I decided (at 2am) that now not only was I tired but I was spanked as well. So I sent myself to bed for the night to rest off the lack of confidence.
Now - would my reraising preflop and then betting hard post-flop have chased anyone out? I don't know for sure - but I know that I would not be crying about my poor play.
BTW - this isn't a knock on your play. Hek I'm just a damn noob at the holdem game anyway. But it's fun as hell. Now, just got to make it fun, and profitable
