Default Good tourney player/Good ring player

Is there really a big difference? Obviously if you have more experience in one then you'll be better at it. But do you think some of us are better geared to play with tournament chips and some are better geared to playing with blinds that don't increase every fifteen minutes etc...?

I've only played in two MTTs. One was at Commerce Casino, $300 buy-in, I finished in the top 150 out of 500. I used to play ring games there 4 times a week, but in this tournament I was so freakin' nervous I almost puked. My hands would shake every time I stretched out for a bet. I could barely shuffle 8 chips at a time.

A few months later I played a $15 online tourney for fun and finished 8th out of 155 players. I was so new at it that I accidentally blinded away at the final table. I felt like a huge dork.

Tourneys just seem to take too long for little to no reward. And there's way too much luck involved. But does that mean I'll never learn to become a good tournament player?

Ring is more about post flop play.

MTT's do include post flop play as well but not as much. It is about stealing, making moves, being patient and waiting for your spot(some might disagree with this but this is just my style right now) and guts.
