    Default Giving up small edges.

Ok im having a nasty downswing at the moment. Down over 30-60K hands (i know it isnt huge but its my first dowswing bigger than like 200bucks)
At 50/100nl where i play most often i can outplay a greater number of opponents post flop. Im not saying im the best here, because im not by far but that is where i think my greater edge is; post flop.
So, now im on a downswing, or for that matter as a discussion of increasing my profits in a non-downswing situation do i give up small edges preflop and lose less money on coinflips/small edges and use my post flop advantages?
    This thread; http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...ic.php?t=25545
is typically a situation where i push my JJ as has been suggested. But, if i instead call and see a flop knowing i can outplay opps post flop do i gain a bigger edge post flop by not getting it all in preflop?
In a sense im asking because im better post flop do i refrain from taking coin flips and instead beat my opps ass on the flop when they miss or i can push them off?

You're on the right track. I don't remember the last time I got it all in preflop with JJ in a cash game.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Yeah, with JJ (and even QQ) you are on the wrong side of the coin too often if all your chips are in preflop. I think that thread is a different scenario where he seems to have pegged his opponents on a range of hands he is ahead of.

It seems to me that if you are dominating post flop, then preflop means less. For chumps like me, that's not the case.

If your biggest edges in your opinion are post-flop, then you should concentrate on seeing as many flops (relatively speaking of course) as you can. I would reccomend playing 6 max because there is a lot of things that post-flop players benefit from 6 handed. Also, mixing it up and just smooth calling with big pairs (as long as you know it's only you and one/two other players) can be very profitable because you usually end up losing a small pot or winning a big one because nobody expects KK to smooth call, so when the flop comes queen high AQ is going to give you all of his chips.

As for your downswing, it sucks but NL cash games have as a ton of variance. You can play great and suffer a couple bad beats and be down 2-3 buyins, and similarly you can play bad and get lucky and be up 4-5 buyins. Best of luck to you though, I'm sure you'll be winning again soon.

    thanks
Yes i did play predominatly 6 max but have swiched to 6 max while i have been whoring. I wonder if that may be an important point. In 6 max i tend to find fewer people who will willingly chase, whereas in full ring that seems not to be the case.
You make some great points though very applicable to the way i play

6 max is all about two things, position and table image. If you use both to your advantage then you can be a very profitable player at 6 max. My image is usually very aggressive (in position of course) and I raise a ton of pots, therefore I get paid off on a regular basis. Yesterday some guy paid me off when I had aces, all he had was ace high and I was value betting him like he had top pair or something. When I play full ring, I tend to play very tight, which is what you need to do ten handed. I think that 6 max is far more profitable, though.
