    Default Flopping a Boat

    Hello all,
This is my first post, so bear with me. I'd call myself an advanced beginner. I've only recently decided to put some time and dedication into really learning poker. In short, I've learned a thing or two from books but I still do dumb, dumb things. Let me ask about this hand I played last night. It was in a $1 MTT.

I was in the BB and had A2 off. There were three limpers in there and I checked. Flop comes 22A. Great, full house for me. My idea was to slow play and see if one of the callers could make a hand and pay me. I thought if I threw in a big bet, it would scare all three away as there was a pair on the board. So, I checked and so did everyone else.

Blank comes on the turn. I check. First caller to my left throws in a pot sized bet. The other two fold.

I go all in figuring I'll take down his one bet. He calls holding AJ off. Freaking ace hits on the river and it's a slipt pot.

    Where did I go wrong?

    himself fucker.
You went wrong thinking you went wrong.

You got all the money in when you were way ahead and free rolling.

This is the second greatest possible scenario you could hope for.

    YOU CANT LOSE!

Do you even make this post if the river was a J?

This happens sometimes, it is annoying but just get over it. At least there weren't runner runner jacks.

2s full of x boats are scary. If someone has a pp and hits you're losin. Bet something on that flop instead of letting someone draw out on you. If it was AA2 on the flop, different story.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.

I flopped a boat in a 1/2 nl homegame the other night. How would you have played this hand? (reconstructed as best as I could)

I am UTG with pocket 2's. Limp in. No one raises and we got to the flop with 4 players.

Flop is 4, 4, 2. I have made my boat. I check. Gets around to button who bets $20. I am the only caller. It is now heads up.

Turn is a 3. I check. He bets $40. How would you play it from here when the guy says, "Careful, i have a huge hand" and you know that he is being honest.

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago in home tournament. We started out with about 36000 in chips. I had pocket 55 and it flopped something like J53. I think I checked that to try to get him to bet but he checked behind me. (probably a big mistake) The turn was a J so I made my boat. I bet out 5000 and he called. The river was an A. I bet out another 5000 and he raised me to 10000. I thought about going all in (glad I didn't). I just called and he turned over and AJ for a bigger boat. It happens sometimes but I just couldn't throw away a boat.

I'd say he has an overpair or 4x. 34 seems a little farfetched.
