    Hello All,

I've been a lurker for a long time - I've been in here at least once a day for the past 6 months or so but only registered today, mostly out of laziness.

I live in Washington state, so I've only been playing B&M since July, when they made playing a felony, but I had my start online. When I did play online (Full Tilt), I started in limit (which I feel is my strongest game), but also did very well in MTTs, cashing over 5k in them in a 2 month period.

My husband is in the military and will be shipping off to Iraq in February. So next year I'll be moving to Michigan to stay with my parents, rent free with a steady income and able to play online again.

So what is the poker obsessed to do with a year of free time and almost no living expenses? What would you do to prepare yourself for a year concentrated completely on poker? If you found yourself in that kind of situation, what would your game plan be?

Since B&M casinos here only offer small stakes limit games that has been my focus, but I really enjoy MTTs and S&Gs and also find myself wondering if there is more money to be made in NLHE. I'm intereseted in hearing from people who play all of these, or a combination (like NL and MTTs) and how they manage their time and bankroll differently than someone who only plays one format.

I think I may have started to ramble on a bit, so I'll close by again saying how much I've enjoyed this forum. Thanks to all who have worked so hard on it. :P

The first thing to do is present your stats, tactical thinking etc. openly to the forum so you can identify, with the help of FTR regulars, any obvious areas for improvement. If you are going to play, well, not professionally, but as your sole income, you need to ensure that whatever you do choose to play you are properly prepared, bankrolled and disciplined for.

Anyway, now that I've been stern and bossy, I should welcome you to FTR and urge you to post regularly - you've found a gold mine here, I hope you can get as much out of it as I have!

    Welcome to FTR StageWhisper.

Hopefully you'll be able to write quite a few more posts during your year of free time.

No, it's not an effective or enforceable law. But it wouldn't take much to get into serious trouble with the military if word got out about us playing.
