First Hand... All In

    Default First Hand... All In

I'm sure we have all seen this a few times if not countless times. I would like to know what range of hands do you call with in the following scenarios.

    1. First hand of a $10 SNG, villain pushes all in. You act after this player
What range of hands do you call with here?

    2. First hand of a $10 MTT, villain pushes all in. You act after this player
What range of hands do you call with here?

    3. Villain sits down at the 10NL ring game you are at. First hand villain
is dealt he pushes all in. You act after this player
What range of hands do you call with here?

What would the range be if this were a $100 sng, $100 mtt, or 100NL ring?

Also are there any times where you would make this play yourself? Make a huge push first hand of a sng or mtt or ring. What hands would you make this play with and if you do utilize this play, how often would you use it?

Depends on how many players are to act.

    AA-QQ are insta-call.
Add AK/AQs/JJ if I think he wants to gamble.
Add AJ/ATs/KQ/77+ if I think he's full of shit and I'm in the blinds (1 or fewer players remaining to act)

In a SnG play a notch tighter because your chips are worth more than a 55-60%ish edge.

no actually, I can't even remember when this happend when I played $5 SnG's, let alone $10 ones. I wouldnt really be worried about this situation because as rare as it happens, your even less likely to pick up a hand that you'll call with. I think I would be dumping AK and calling with QQ+

It wont happen at $100 Sngs, mtts, or ring. If it does, I'm only calling with KK+

I've called this push with ATs in 100NL full ring. Although technically, it was his 3rd hand at the table and he pushed the first 2...

If I play micro MTT/SnG and I get dealt KK/AA first hand I might push AI from early position and hope someone thinks OMGOSH WHAT 1,500 WITH THEZE BLINDZ?! and calls and then I double up.

    So beware!

I pushed with AA first hand of a $1 stars 47 man SnG once and got 3 callers.

Im probably calling down with QQ+, if its very probable it will be a HU match.

On a side note, at my first ever $50 sng I got delt AA first hand UTG. I open pushed and took out AQ and JJ, first hand

SNG I'll call w/ AA, KK and QQ.
MTT I'll call with just AA and KK.
Cash games I'll call with AA, KK, QQ, and probably JJ, AK

People can have rediculously good hands on their first hand, so don't assume the raiser is full of it. I flopped 4-of-a-kind once in my first hand at a NL table once.

Once at a SnG, I was dealt AK in late position, and everyone (literally) ahead of me called, so I went 1/2 all in. One raised me all-in, and I called. He had 3 4 suited. I doubled up first hand.

Since I know people are less likely to believe a first-hand all-in, I might be tempted to do it with AA/KK. If anyone else goes all-it, I'll give them the benifit of the doubt and fold unless I've got AA. It doesn't cost any money to fold to a bluff pre-flop.

who cares about a cash game. You're in no hurry to double up on an assumption that villain is a crazy motherfucker. My calling range there is KK+ only.

In a sng, first hand, my range is QQ+ Only. And add JJ and AK if its a turbo.

In a mtt, probably just QQ+

    1. AA, KK... if i was in an odd mood maybe suited connectors like 67s or 89s? Unlikely though. In a $11 sit n go i might take that chance if i was in late pos.

    2. AA

    3. AA, KK... maybe QQ but I would probably chicken out.

I've never done this yet, so i think it's fairly safe to say it's not part of my armory of moves... not to say i won't ever try it tho.

Its not "What will you push all-in with?' Its "What will you call an all in with?"

just cause its their first hand doesn't mean you always know nothing. maybe they bought in short, maybe they're sb, you're bb, and it folded around and it just feels like a full of shit move. maybe they've been chatting. i dunno, if you know nothing, assume they're not full of shit?

    1. AA-KK, add QQ in LP.
    2. Same as above.
    3. 10NL? AA-JJ/AK, 100NL, AA-QQ
