    Default First game of HORSE

I thought this post would be appropriate for the BC because I am a beginner, and have never played a hand of HORSE before.

Anyway, I played in a $1+.10 HORSE MTT yesterday at stars. I pretty much had no idea what was going on. It was as bad as I thought RAZZ was a H/L game at first (for those unaware, RAZZ is a lowball game.)

Anyway, as I came to each game variation, I searched the forum, and other online sources for instructions on how to play and starting hand requirements. I did pretty well, until I had the chance to go to the beach and just sat out the rest of the tourney. I definately think that the LHE hands kept me in the game at the start, but the second time around at LO8 I definately had a significant advantage just knowing what to start with. I def. think that other forms of poker are +EV, and I enjoy them. I still want to build my roll on NLHE, but I may be playing more PLO8, and HORSE tourneys in the near future.

I used to play HORSE for shits and giggles when I was bored but didn't want to play any serious holdem. Played mostly SnGs. I once entered a HORSE MTT and cashed, GO ME! I was very impressed with myself. Razz is my favorite of the games, but I still suck at it.

I played in one $1 horse recently. I remember one H/L where me and another guy capped 6th and 7th street and had 2 callers. I had obv high for 1/2.

So, don't play speculative hands, don't bluff (unless it's an obv I'm dominating your board "bluff"). Profit.

I got knocked out because guy called me down in stud H/L with A245 vs obv high 2 pair. He hit the 3 on the river to scoop, had he missed the low I scoop.

    Easy Peasy.

Yeah, I was staying away from the stud games at first, but then it became more and more apparent that I had an edge in all games. Especially the split games. Funny thing that all I knew were starting hands, and how to play aggressive poker.
