Default Felt lost in the hand.JJ

Opponent was vpip 23 pfr18 over 47 hands
When he three bet should i have 4bet him. His three bet seemed awkward since he did not make it 3x
I could be facing in my opinion 55-AA. AK/AQ
On the flop my plan was to c/c since I was pretty sure he was going to cbet this three bet pot. I did not want to get raised if I led out.
Honestly tough I did not know what to do on the turn. My gut was saying he could have cbet with AK or AQ. But I decided to check since the pot was 50bb and i felt that I could be behind.
The river call was because I was thinking that he could be betting TT, 99, 88 or AK after I checked to him. At the same time a value bet from a set/AQ, KK/AA. Was pretty surprised what he showdown with.
    HELP
4bet pre/ lead out the flop? raise his flop bet? bet the turn? Fold the river?
    Hero (UTG) ($9.20)
    MP ($34.05)
    Button ($10.20)
    SB ($12)
    BB ($8.70)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J, J
Hero bets $0.40, 1 fold, Button raises to $1.05, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.65

    Flop: ($2.25) 3, 5, 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $1.40, Hero calls $1.40

    Turn: ($5.05) 2 (2 players)
    Hero checks, Button checks

    River: ($5.05) Q (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $2.70, Hero calls $2.70

    Total pot: $10.45 | Rake: $0.50

I think the problem here is you have no idea what he has because you didn't try and make a play on him. The flop he C-betted because of your check so he thinks you missed it, but you call. On the turn when that straight draw comes in and he checks, you need to bet there, I believe this would be floating correct me if I'm wrong.

Most likely because he has AQ, that sounds like exactly what he has here. Misses the flop, you give him the free card and he bets out once he has hit his Q.

I would have been more aggressive and taken the flop down earlier as you know he has high cards and JJ is great until the Q-A comes in.

preflop raise and if he does not reraise bet on the turn if he reraises he has probably hit

    it looks standard
something has to be said for donking that turn since AK/AQ picked up outs

by the turn i think i only have 7.40
If i bet the turn say 3 and opponent calls
then on the river? c/f or c/c
just realized that I don't think that most opponent would still bet
AK on the river. I loose to any Q of course QQ/KK/AA
would he bet the river with 77-TT
so i guess checking the river is best and folding to any bet.

Im opedipus bitch, the original balla.
Without read, if we assume he isn't 3betting tremendously light, I would assign him a 3bet range of TT+, AQ+ here. It may be tighter if he's positionally aware, as a lot of people don't 3bet UTG raises all that often.

Flop and turn are pretty standard imo. If you lead the flop, you are allowing him to play relatively mistake free against you. He can fold all of his whiffed AK/AQ tight hands. And he can probably make a fold with TT. So I definitely c/c the flop. The turn is also standard for about the same reasons, and would have been interested had he also bet turn.

On the river if we use the TT+, AQ+ 3bet range, then 27 combos beat us (QQ+, AQ). Given pot odds we need to have 26% equity against his betting range to be profitable. If we can put another 10 combos in his range that we beat (say he bets the river with AK here), then we have >26% equity (10/37 = .27%). However, some part of his possible 3bet bluffing range hits the Queen as well, such as KQ, QJ, and also A4 hit which is generally a hand in a 3bet bluffing range. So he could potentially have more than 27 combos that beat us.

In any event, I think it's played fine up till the river for sure. On the river I think it's a toss up between c/c, and c/f, depending a good deal on villain and his likelihood of betting worse/bluffing.

Also, only 4bet preflop if you plan on calling if he shoves.

In the batter's box. Already 0-1 count....
I would have had to 4 bet pre. If he shoves, I am willing to call. Otherwise, I play the hand the same way as shown above.

Careful what you wish for.....you just may get it!
