Default Facing a raise when stealing the blinds

Folded to in position with A5s. Both blinds are fairly tight.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Hero (Button) ($24.65)
    SB ($11.75)
    BB ($20.65)
    UTG ($7)
    UTG+1 ($8.50)
    MP1 ($7)
    MP2 ($32.10)
    MP3 ($6)
    CO ($1.35)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A, 5
6 folds, Hero raises to $1, SB raises to $2, 1 fold, Hero ???

Now, I wouldn't normally have called $1 with this from the button, but with 3:1 pot odds, is it correct to call? A5s is a decent drawing hand, so I would look to hit the flop hard.

Given the opponent, his likely range is JJ+ or AQ+. I'm likely to take his entire (short) stack if I hit.

You have about 4% chance to flop hard: 2p+. Ofcourse if you flop an ace it gets tricky as you could be either dominated or ahead of his big pp. In general you don't have odds as there is only $12 to win (if you stack him every time if you hit big) for your $1.

If they fight back, don't steal. Wait for a hand, have them fight back and then stack them. Even if you had a somewhat decent hand, and he's on a total bluff - he has decided he's going to take that pot away from you, and you'll probably face another bet on the flop even if he misses. Just stay out of it.
Having a player to your left who religiously defends his or her blind is awesome. Just wait for a hand. I'd have to look in my history, but I remember stacking a couple of people after a steal raise when they 3-bet with KJ and don't fold to a 4-bet.
If you can't be happy when you hit the A, then don't call preflop.

Yeah, I ended up calling, but then really didn't like my play. I lucked out and flopped trip 5's to his pocket QQ, and did take his stack. It was nice to get lucky, but my pre-flop call was really nagging at me.

    Thanks for the input, fellas.
