This happens to me alot and I have no clue how to play it. What do you guys do?

I have a low to mid pp and flop makes a different low-mid pair with rag. Im first to act.
Do I make an opening bet to see where everyones at? And if they just call what then?
Or do you just check and give it up to any bet on the flop?
