Default Do you make this call?

Villain is kind of reckless and overbets pots. There's still a few hands that could beat me. I was going to call his inevitable river bet if a blank came down, but the size of the bet got me thinking. Should I just bet the river? i was cautious of getting raised (set, etc).

If you want honest answers don't post the results. It skews everyones comments...everyone wants to be right.

I likely call since he seems to be betting/holding the J.

Having not seen the results, I might put him on a set (T's) or an overpair here based on his preflop raise and a possible slow play on the flop. I fold it.

Toughie.. he may have improved to 2pr or made a set.

But based on how you played it and your read I would have to call that one.

I think I would have reraise the turn.

if he had a set he'd probably play it this way, or if he had another monster, idk i'd fold.

i dont like the turn mini raise and the river check is weak.
I'd at least bet the river. Whether id call his huge river bet is debatable/depends upon reads. If ive seen him big bet the best hand then i fold but if ive seen him bluff im tempted. Why no perflop raise? If he reraised preflop you know to fold. I think this is where the problem lies.

he was the one who minraised the turn.

No raise preflop because there was no isolating to do. Big ass hands would usually act weak anyway in that spot, so not many accurate reads after it has folded round. +stealing the $1 wasn't hugely appealing.

yes, I should have bet the river

I don’t see why you would bet the river. Betting the river after he has shown strength in raising your turn bet would be done only as a value bet. You don’t expect him to fold do you? He showed strength; no he won’t fold. What are the chances you are still a winner if called?..Small I would say, therefore, don’t bet. The hand is worth a call IMO, but not a value bet as there are lots of things that beat you.

If you saw him overbet pots before and was sure he was bluffing, I call this here.

That turn minimum raise by him is pretty stupid, and seems like he thought you were bluffing, but he didn't have the balls to do a real raise. IF he thought you were bluffing before (or were on a draw), then this bet here is a bluff.

You say he's reckless and likes to overbet? Call it for sure here. Look at what your playing told him here. You called a mini-re-raise and then checked the river to him. I think he's just going on reads here and believes you're unsure enough of your hand to fold it to such a large bet.

    so that's 5 calls, 3 folds, and 1 unsure.

Good debating hand! I'll see if anyone else posts before I say what I did.

you're killed, min raise on turn is showing wicked strength, and then, just incase i was wrong on the turn, he bets out 15$. Think about what you would just call with PF.. low pair? suited connect?

    J10, 55, 22

or if you have a good read on him and you know hes a loose player, call it down and let him show qj, kj.

think about what you think he thinks you have. do you think maybe he thinks you were semi-bluffing diamonds on the turn?? do you think he can put you on anything BESIDES high card-jack?? what would HIS read and HIS hand have to be to merit a 15$ bet on the river??

I called, he had KJ and I took it down.

I called the river bet because I was sure I was ahead on the turn, I was thinking he had a lower jack to make that play. the river was innocuous UNLESS it paired his kicker but there was a touch of desperation in his large bet. The puzzle all added up to a call with the read I had.
