deepstack observations
I have watched the 2 HSP S4 episodes and one thing really jumped out at me and caught my attention. It seems when playing deepstacked the default lines by these players was to check-call with top pair hands. After thinking a little bit I came to the conclusion that it was probably because these type of hands cannot hold up to a raise. I know at higher stakes I have heard the approach if you cannot call a raise why bet a hand? (This might only apply on the river I am not sure). To me this would make a lot of sense becasue by check calling they are actually keeping the size of the pot down, and while playing deep you do not want a lot of money going in with top pair.
One other thing that stood out was a lot of the bets were below half the pot which I thought was very interesting. When playing deep people value hands with implied odds a lot more, and by betting so small isn't it an invitation for drawing hands to jump in?
Any thoughts, comments, other oddities people have noticed in deepstack play would be great. And of course I am talking about when you are playing other opponents that are proficient in deepstack play and not your normal online donk that is still stacking off wtih TPTK 300bb+ deep.
