    Default Connection problems with Stars

Since I moved house, around 2 months ago now, I got a new 'SuperHub' with my ISP. My ISP hasn't changed, I just got a new hub.

When I'm playing it keeps disconnecting me for like 8-10 secs, I get the green bar with network status or whatever it says and then it brings me back. The problem is, if I'm in the middle of a hand and it takes too long it will make me fold and I'll have to sit out and wait for next BB. It's really sporadic as well so I have no idea when it could happen or what causes it. I have no problems streaming live videos, playing games online or whatever, only seems to happen with Stars and only since I got the new hub.

Anyone encountered anything similar to this before?

    Location
a little town called none of your goddamn business
run a few speedtest.net 's on different locations, including isle of man, see if the speeds/pings vary

i get it sometimes too. when its bad i reboot the modem and that can cure it sometimes but i'm just on an adsl2+ router. It could be down to rebooting gets you a new dynamic IP so that you get allocated to different equipment at isps servers instead of isp equipment which could be malfunctioning.

@Renton - I tried a few different places and it was consistently good. Couldn't do Isle of Man for some reason though.

@Keith - I switch my internet off all the time at the wall so it's always rebooted and that doesn't seem to fix anything. The strange thing is that if I have Skype running I don't lose connection to Stars.

Would it have anything to do with ports?

Is your internet connection disconnecting or just pokerstars?
can you access any other sites or continue streaming whilst you have the green bar?
though streaming can hide problems by its buffering.
It could also be your computer getting locked while cpu and memory are busy on other processes.

If you are using wifi, it could be a poor wifi connection if you modem is too far away,
I get similar when I try to use pokerstars in the kitchen which is at the limit of my range.

Are you sharing the router with anyone? I sometimes have issues when my housemate is downloading a film or whatever, but usually it's sorted before I'm forced to fold.

Also, assuming you're losing your time bank, if you're playing zoom, closing your table and instantly booting up a new one gives you a new time bank. You'll start with 100bb again but it's probably better then force folding hands you like.

It's just Stars, although I haven't seen it disconnect when I have been talking to people on Skype at the same time as playing.
The green bar isn't really there long enough for me to try anything out, it usually comes on as I am reconnecting.

I am using Wifi but I'm pretty close to the modem so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm thinking it might have something to do with other wifi devices crossing the signal.

are you using anything like a custom cards or table themes? Are you using pokerstars.exe instead of pokerstarsupdate.exe? You may need to do an update and reinstall your mods if so.

I use table themes but I have always used them and never had a problem until I got this new hub.
