Confused about range.

Hi guys,

Hope im not being too silly. Read alot of post talking about range and EV.
Are there any posts on this site or anywhere i can read up about them.


Not enitirely sure what they are and how to use them in my game.

Any advice? Also only been on the site a while but what a great thing where like minded enthuiasts are prepared to share thier knowledge on the game. Loving the advice n hoping i can soon stick myself a thread in the winners circle post!

Range - the basic hands that a certain type of player will play

ex - tight player who hardly ever raises. Suddenly he raises. You can bet QQ, KK, AA, AK

EV - expected value. What you expect to gain +EV or lose -EV from a play over time.

ex - pushing preflop at a ring game with AA is +EV since you are a favorite to win.
