You can't plug a leak by making a new hole in it. That is a terrible lesson to teach yourself. It should rather read something like this: "Unless I am ahead of what I perceive to be my opponent's range or am offered good pot- or implied odds to call, I will fold to a re-raise". It's not as convinent as just folding whenever you don't have the nuts, but it'll make you money in the long run.
