Default Come Discuss Poker With Us

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, but it's basically a chat room full of poker players affiliated with FTR in one way or another. There are a lot of reasons you should stop being lazy and come into IRC.

If I was going to talk about how you should come to IRC to share some pirated media like PDFs of poker books, I couldn't because if you look in the forum rules there's this bit: 9. Soliciting or performing of illegal activities, i.e., sharing of pirated media or hacking, is forbidden.

So instead I'll suggest you come into IRC to talk about hands and strategy in real time, which is much more helpful for a lot of people than talking about them in a forum format.

    http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...08-t67665.html

Getting into IRC is super easy. Click the link above to the sticky from the community forum and get your ass in here.

There are between 15-30 people in the #flopturnriver channel at almost all times, so why aren't you?

couple of times i've been in theres either been nobody there or those there were either absent or private chatting (guessing the last bit) since nothing appeared on screen. Could just be a result of the time i went in though ....would have been late afternoon US time.

You probably connected to the wrong server or something because there have been people in there constantly since before you joined FTR.

Edit: Or you went into the flash-based browser chat which isn't what we're talking about.

IRC leads to late-night 2NL games...which leads to me losing money to micro2macro.

Why aren't YOU watching me lose money? Come join and watch me suck ass at 2NL!

You are all welcome, but please keep the noise level down.
IRC has become pretty much useless for the past 2 days due to all the chit chat.

there's a lot of variation... just log in and see what's happening. If there are loads of people listed as in but not talking much then they're probably grinding. Ask a decent poker question and see what happens.

I was wondering why we had more than usual in IRC, then I found this post...

The topic is poker, all questions regarding the topic are welcome. Use www.weaktight.com to convert any hands and drop the link.

According to Spoon's IRC advice, I'm always trying to skate uphill. I'm not sure what this means.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

That's a quote from Blade, he's like "Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill," or something similar at the end after he kills Deacon Frost. You just seem to have like a really hard time getting out of the micros is all.
