    Default Check the river OOP

Its amazing how many people will bluff at the pot if you check to them on the river.

Note this might not work at less then 100NL and the like.

It does at some tables on the lower limits too .. when I'm seated at a "backwards table" - you know, the kind where everyone folds to resistance and slowplays their made hands, yet if they sense weakness they throw out heavy bluffs - I'm definately taking this line OOP until people catch on!

(More accurate would be to say that these "backwards players" that I'm seeing rather often, simply will keep playing passively, even with monsters, so as long as you show strength. They'll only become aggressive when you show weakness.. so without slowplaying you're simply not getting much value off of them - these guys used to bleed me dry until I wisened up to their game and adjusted accordingly)

I can promise you that at $/£25, this doesn't tend to work often enough to make it worthwhile. With reads, sure, but in a vacuum, don't bother.

It doesn't even work at 10NL or 20NL in a vacuum.. this realization came to me after I saw a trend to do good at most tables yet REALLY poorly at some others. When it became apparent this wasn't just variance but a real trend, I looked into what caused this and after a while figured out the game of these "backwards players", adjusted my game, and now I'm doing better even when facing those guys.

If you ALWAYS go strong on good hands, and your opponents play passive when you show strength and aggressive when you show weakness, you'll typically be losing a lot and winning a little against them.. quite the opposite of what you ideally want. Mix in a few slowplays and you can thwart this trend.

Actually it's pretty clever.. against most lower limit players who will never really mix up their game, this "backwards" strategy is quite effective lol

Yeah your right, I only really started noticing this trend at 400NL.

OK Disclaimer: Don't blame me if this goes wrong for everyone. Listen to biondino people.

If i think there chasing I'll always check the river with TP type hands, the amount of times people bluff their busted draws at me is amazing. Even passive players who see a big pot, look down at their 9 high and a check will often take a stab at it.

Checking turn behind in position works well too.
