Default Chasing flush and betting against a chase

You have a nut flush draw after the turn, the pot is 12$ and the only other player left bets the pot. Is there any situation where you would chase your flush and call - or is this always a fold?

On the other hand - is it enough to bet the pot when you know your opponent is chasing?

You have to consider pot odds. You would be getting 2:1 if you call this bet. A terrible price to call. You also have to consider the implied odds, or how much more you can win from him if you do make your hand. If he is chasing the same flush draw you are, and you both make but yours is the nut, you're going to be able to extract a lot more from him than if he is chasing a straight draw and fills it, but the card that made him his straight also puts three to a flush on the board. The size of the pot in comparison to help many chips remaining in his and your stack are important factors to consider as well.

So what you are saying is that if you suspect that the opponent would put his stack of -say- 40$ in the pot even if the flush draw hits, then it's worth calling?

Essentially, but hardly ever will they do that against a 3 flush board.

Look to disguise your draw and get decent pot odds with it.
