    Default Cant be consitent

This is my dilemma, ill be at a table, do awesome, double my buyin, sometimes tripple it, then downt he drain cus some smart ass wants to get cute and play trash against a respectable raise, thus i lose my winnings. This happens so often its not even funny, scary actually. I paly in my bankroll limits and all, but still i cant come out on top. It sucks. Am i doomed? Or do i attract ppl with shit for brains.

    3 things.
    1. You can leave when you are two buy ins up and some one wants to get fancy
    2. You can find the fold button when it seems you're beat.
    3. Its likely to be me on the other end of this probablem because i can put you on certain cards.
So, if you're up and opp gets fancy then leave or beleive them when the make big bets against you. Or else dont bluff/c-bet etc wait for a hand to hit you

ive played like 9000 hands or so, for example. i raise 5-6BB at a 0.25 NL table with QQ. I get one caller, flop is Q T 4, guy bets $5 i raise to $15 he goes all in for $30 i call, turn is an 8 and river is a blank, he turns over J9 for a straight. I cant escape this, honestly, the minute im up and i get a good hand before ill leave this happens. im shit out of luck, pokerroom is stank.

well most of the time you take his money there...

i think some people just only remember the times when they lose and they are a big favorite and they dont realize how often they actually win when they are ahead they just dont even think about it...

be very careful who you go allin against without the nuts in dep stacked games. Against a decent player with alot of money behind im calling for the full house here. Against someone who will push 2 pair then obviously you have to call but you have to know your opponent first. How is it that you are going up 2 buyins? Its quite easy to kid yourself that you are playing great and making money and then "getting unlucky" and losing it all again. Check your hand histories and make sure you arent doubling up in a lucky way before losing when your luck runs out. The number 1 big huge important thing with bright flashing lights on that i had to learn before i became a winning player at 5NL was to respect a raise when you are against passive players. They may like caling you all the way down with top pair weak kicker on any board but that doesnt mean they are raising with crap. If a passive player raises be very careful if you dont hold the nuts or a draw to the nuts.

Hands like this are not why you aren't winning. You need to keep track of your hands and keep records and find out where you leaks are.

the way it usually goes is ill play for 2 hours or so and be up, my stack isnt a result of getting lucky and hitting big all the time, i make most of my money from capitlizing on other ppls mistakes and inducing a bluff etc. But this has been happening for some time now, month bro. Im able to control myself, i hardly steam and tilt and play trash, i just keep to my regular game, but it doesnt hold up. I sometimes lead myself to believe its becuase i play at such low limits that its all bad players but i dont have a bankroll to support higher limits. I have shown no profit in the last 3 or so months, im down like $200.

maybe you are having a bad run of cards i dont know...

but if you arent a winning player maybe its because you need to improve your game...

start posting some hand histories on here that arent bad beats but are just hands that you want advice on what to do or how could you have played the hand better.

I used to say the same thing. "Its not me, Its the players at this low limit!". Believe me, its you. I'm not calling you a bad player, You just probably have some small leaks in your game that you don't even know about. Sure you lose money because of bad beats but those are the same people who pad your bankroll. If you cannot beat the lower stakes games you won't beat the higher stakes games either. I applaud you on always playing in your bankroll, that is a very good thing. I would urge you to get poker tracker or poker office and track your play and keep records. Find out where you money is going. I had no idea I was losing so much money from the small blind because my blind play was terrible. I have fixed that and other problems that I had in my game. Its easy to say I'm losing money because of this or that but PT or PO don't lie. They will tell you exactly why you are losing money and it may be some reason you don't even know about.

    Quoted for Truth.

If you have $50 to spare go get poker tracker NOW. You may think its expensive but believe me it isnt. Mine paid for itself in about 2 months. Get Poker Tracker!

I have to say this, Pokerroom is a very fishy place. Players are very very loose preflop and chase almost for any price, including stacks on gutshots.
What you have to remember, and IT IS DIFFICULT when you are in a downswing or just frustrated at the ugly suckouts that the odds favour YOUR MOVE. If you get those chips in with favourable odds you will make money guarenteed. I made a stack at pokerroom and then lost it from a huge amount of suckouts. Its made me more determined to play there because the possibilities to make money against the play are pretty endless.
Dont get frustrated, keep on making the right decisions and you will make money. Unfortunatly bad players exist everywhere and will suckout. Just remember though they pay you a lot more money back!

Quoted for truth. How many times have you raised and the guys folded? Well everytime that happens, you won when you were ahead.

How many times have you shown down top pair, and not seen what the other guy had? You won when you were ahead.

Fight the urge to only remember the 'bad beats'.

You WANT these people doing this. For every time you lose a pot to them when they hit their miracle, youre winning three. (The reason I like limit so much is that every time they win a pot, theyre losing three - and theyre all the same pots. That way, I come out ahead. I'm not a fan of NL for that reason. If I lose big but win small, I'm paying off the miracles).

Give limit a try, you might like it.

Also, a good rule of thumb is if you triple your buyin, consider leaving the table.

    Default Counterplay

I gotta say, I'm facing suck-out artists every time I sit down at the lowly $2 NL tables, and the best, if not the only, way to deal with tables where 60% or more are seeing the flop is Aok's counterplay strategy. It'll save you grief and minimise your losses.

I find, interestingly, that counterplay is most useful during weekends and holidays -- like now. It seems that more poker virgins and plain old gamblers are out on those days.

The post is somewhere here, just search on "counterplay". I'm a big fan of it.
