Default Calling low-mid pockets post flop

is it bad to call low or mid pockets after the flop? today twice i was limping with Presto (5,5) and someone raised. the flop comes like 2-6-K and the initial raiser bets out again. i know this player will bet after missing the flop with 2 face cards just to try to buy the pot, and the raise wasnt really too much (same as pre-flop), i ended up rivering a set to win but was it a bad thing to do? I also did it to the same person with pocket 2's calling after the flop and turning a set.

If you think you might be ahead then it's ok if you're priced in. Even if you know you're behind but feel you are priced in with implied odds it can be ok to call. But good luck with that.
Answering this question "is it bad to call low or mid pockets after the flop?" with a yes or no is extremely impossible.

I understand this can be a bad habit, and the pot odds are like 23:1. But with a read, and in the name of unpredictability, nothing is out of the question. Did you read the What Would You Do poll/thread? The punch line has been posted -- involves a similar situation.

    No, really.

With an adequate read, this is a good call. Without it, horrible.

If you have an adequate read for a call, you might as well raise. That way, at least, you may be able to find out if you're wrong.

Earlier tonight I had such a read. Reraised and was called. Guy ended up holding two high unpaired cards. Lost to my 33. Nice $15 pot, given that I missed the flop.

This is right on - what are you going to do on the turn if you call ont he flop? I'd re raise about PS right there on the weak flop bet, if he's on AQ or something you are taking it down. May even get 10 10 ish hands to fold.
