Bubble Time- what's your move?

The Scenario:

- The game is an MTT that pays the top 6 positions.
- There are seven people left at the final table.
- You have the 2nd smallest stack. appx. 1400 chips. Leader has 12000+ chips. Average stack is about 4000 chips.
- You are SB with the blinds at 100/200.

The Action:

- You get dealt TT.
- UTG folds.
- Middle position player (also a small stack) raises to 600.
- Cut-off player (shortest stack) calls but must move all-in.
- Button folds. Action is to you.

What is your move?

Push, if you want to win.

If you fold you are either guarnteed a place in the money (if the short stack busts), or you have a very short stacked player and one with your stack size.

Pushing will probably not cause the MP to fold, assuming he has 1000 more chips he is pretty much pot commited. With 7 players that made the MTT final table you are probably looking at at least two overcards to your TT and maybe a pocket pair.

You may also call and go AI after the flop regardless of the flop.
If the MP player does not have an higher pocket pair and he did not connect with the flop he may be more inclined to fold after the flop then preflop.

I would probably fold it in this situation

me, i'd write something about pocket aces or kings in the message box then push allin.
I want to win not just make the money (unless just making the money is a nice big pay day)Therefor i push in my pocket tens and hope to f&*^ he doesnt hit anything better.
I'd guess your pp is probably the best hand preflop, but its probably gona need help if overcards start appearing.

in that order of best to worst. This is assuming no reads on what kind of hands these opponents play and betting patterns.

My wife was watching me play this hand. She urged me to call, but since calling the 500 chip bet represented 1/3 my chips, I decided to fold the pocket T. Here is what happened.

Bad News:
-Both players were playing weak Aces.
-I would have rivered a set and got the 'i told you so treatment' from the wife.
-Both players missed anyhow. It was a split pot, so I was no better off by folding.

Good News:
- I eventually finished ITM in 5th.


AHiltz- what is a Stop and Go?

i played tournaments to fiinsh in the money but i switched my mindset to WIN a tournament....basically, I just play to win and if you want to win you have to gamble a little bit. 2 Ts vs. AK, whatever....it's not even a race, you are actually ahead. When the table gets down to 3-5 ish. I see a lot of players playing weak aces. When you do push with pockets, sometimes they do fold.

I push.Don't fear the bubble.You may get lucky and win a sidepot or two;and if they're sharing outs(Aces of Kings)your situation is even better.Your life doesn't change if you bubble out or just barely limp and double your buyin for 3rd(or whatever)place.I would kill for a hand like Tens or better shortstacked and a chance to get back into it.Tonight I played a live tourney and after bubbling today in a $5 SNG and last night in a live $20 tourney I am up $30 thanks to placing second tonight because I wasn't afraid to push or call when I felt like a good payout was on the line.Sure Ace-Queen suited may not look as shiny as Pocket Kings or fearing a set against Queens with Rockets but when your hand wins there is no better feeling.

Don't push; there is a raise and a call in front of you. TT is a nice hand, but not against a lot of opponents. Push later with at least two live cards against ONE opponent.

At least 2 live cards? How do you get more lol

I'm not sure what i would do in that situation, if a smaller stack than you is all in, then if they lose you are going to finish above them anyway, regardless of whether you go out that hand or not (at least that is how it works at the site i play at). And if they had a better hand than you, then you are still going to have to play another hand soon, and the chances of getting a better hand than TT before you get drained too far by the blinds is not as great as the chance of winning this hand with TT (imo) so i would probably push.
