    Default BR management for beginners?

    Hi there…

I’ve read ’rilla’s piece on BR management. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d like some thing explained more detailed – so I’m sure to understand!

I play NL at PokerChamps – Currently my BR is about 60, and I play the 2c/4c table, with a max buy-in of 2$ - I think this is in accordance with what ‘rilla wrote!?

I like SnG’s as well, and am thinking of starting a BR for that as well!

    Now to my questions:

    When can I move up to the 5c/10c table (max buy-in 5$) from a BR-point of view – is that when I hit 75$-150$? (15x5$ - 30x5$)

If I end up losing some of my BR, when should I move down to the 2c/4c table again – is that when I hit 30$-60$? (15x2$ - 30x2$)

Regarding SnG’s is it correctly understood to go up when my BR hits 15+x(next level buy-in) and go down when I hit 15x(lower limit buy-in)??

I will greatly appreciate any comments!

Well done on reading the bankrole management thread. This is invaluable.
Firstly i would recoment 15 buy ins at the next level before you even consider trying that next level eg $75 for $5 max buy in ( i hope yopu are buying in for the maximum amount here?) When you hit the 15 buy ins i would begin to play a few of the higher level games to get a feel for them. Dont just swap becasue your 'roll says you can. Get a feel. If you lose moneygo back down and work at your game a bit more and build the 'roll a touch more before starting again (eg work up to 20 buy ins at higher level) If you find success then begin to play more of the higher level games, then if you reach 20 buy ins at that level i'd just exclusivly play at this new level.
You can use the same 'roll to play sngs too. Its completly your choice as to whether you have a part of your 'roll that is used exclusivly for sng play. Personally i use the same roll but i only play low buy in sngs that i can beat consistently and that my 'roll can easily absorb should i hit a bad run (eg 10 games without making the money)

Thanks - I see what you mean - and it sounds like great advise!
I'll start trying out the higher level when I hit a certain BR, and then still play at my normal level, until I feel comfortable at the new level, and I can see I'm doing well there!
